Supplier Coordination and Management: Working with suppliers and carriers to ensure the timely delivery of local raw components needed for production through pull ticket management. This includes monitoring supplier performance to assess their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements, including the MIN MAX requirements. Recommends and participates in the qualification process of alternative suppliers for each commodity. Resolves material planning problems/constraints involving material availability that affect the overall production operations to ensure timely products delivery and/or shipment. Ensures the on-time placement and delivery of purchase orders based on the system lead time at the lowest price and based on the approved vendor list.
Logistics Planning and Coordination: Collaborating with the logistics team and thirdparty logistics (3PL) providers to plan the transportation, warehousing, and storage of incoming materials. This involves ensuring efficient inbound freight logistics and customs compliance. Negotiates and discusses with operations regarding the adjustment of shipping commitments due to supply constraints. Ensure optimal efficiency in freight operations, customs compliance, and logistics modes to support timely and costeffective production.
Demand and Supply Forecasting: Collaborating with demand planners and internal departments to align material supply plans with demand forecasts and production schedules. Conference with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure the availability of materials or products. Facilitates Regular Shortage Reviews to address Shortage gaps and mitigate supply risks.
Cost Management and Optimization: Analyzing freight charges and overall supply chain costs to identify savings opportunities and implement cost-effective transportation and logistics solutions. Searches for continued cost reduction opportunities through alternative suppliers, cost estimation activities, and continued supplier negotiations.
Transformation/Process Improvement and Risk Mitigation: Identifying potential supply chain disruptions, developing contingency plans, and implementing best practices to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of upstream operations. Designs or implements supply chains that support business strategies adapted to change. Strong leadership skills in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities.
Inventory Control and Optimization: Setting safety stocks, re-order points (ROP), and replenishment quantities to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimizing both stockouts and excess/obsolete inventory. Searches for continued cost reduction opportunities through alternative suppliers, cost estimation activities, and continued supplier negotiations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Serving as the link between various departments, including procurement, production, logistics, and finance, to ensure integrated and streamlined operations across the entire supply chain. Develops procedures for the coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as commodity, finance, production, logistics, and warehouse.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Using data analytics and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track metrics (e.g., on-time delivery), and report performance to senior management.
People Management & Development: Manages the day-to-day operations in the Imported purchasing department. Establish clear performance goals and expectations for the team. Provide overall leadership to the upstream planning team, clearly communicating the department's vision and ensuring it aligns with the broader organizational goals. This involves guiding and inspiring team members to achieve common objectives. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide ongoing, constructive feedback, and address performance issues in a timely and fair manner. Act as a coach and trusted advisor, offering guidance and support to help employees learn from mistakes, overcome obstacles, and reach their full potential. Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities, such as courses in logistics management or supply chain management, to enhance team members competencies and career growth.
Qualifications
Preferably a graduate of Industrial Engineering or a business-related course.
MBA or Supply chain certification/s is a nice to have.
In-depth knowledge of Material Management and Supply Chain.
Minimum 5 years of experience and responsibility in Upstream Material Planning, preferably in Imported Products
Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role (handling people or projects).• Preferably with experience in working in an ISO-certified manufacturing company/Supply Chain.
Working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably in SAP; Experience with JDA software is a plus.
