Job Description

The Structural Drafter is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed structural and construction drawings using AutoCAD to support engineering and construction projects. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and internal project teams to develop drawing packages, incorporate revisions, and maintain project quality and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced professional environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare, revise, and maintain structural and construction drawings using AutoCAD
  • Develop drawing packages and technical construction documents in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and company standards
  • Incorporate markups, redlines, plan check comments, and engineering revisions into drawing sets
  • Translate field notes and sketches into CAD drawings
  • Coordinate drafting efforts with other disciplines
  • Identify and help resolve design conflicts, interference issues, and drafting inconsistencies
  • Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Support multiple drawing revisions and ongoing project development efforts while maintaining schedule commitments
  • Utilize additional software and internal programs required for project execution following training
  • Communicate project updates, deadlines, questions, and issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform general office and project support duties such as printing, plotting, assembling drawing sets, and maintaining project documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting standards, workflows, and project execution
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical certification, bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent drafting/design experience preferred
  • 1–3+ years of experience in AutoCAD drafting and construction drawing preparation preferred
  • Experience working in a professional engineering, telecommunications, construction, or consulting environment preferred
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of construction plans, elevations, details, and construction documentation
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word), Adobe PDF, and other related software
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing project priorities
