Terminals stock reconciliation processes are critical for company's financial performance and provide early warning of possible product leakage from storage, product theft, product quality incidents, equipment performance, tank and line integrity, meters and operational controls, abnormal losses or gains and control issues with stocks.
In this role you will be accountable for ensuring that storage gains/losses of products at Shell owned and operated terminals are properly investigated and appropriately documented to ensure adherence with respective business and financial (SOX) controls and policies. The role will require daily work with the Terminal Management Systems (TMS), communication with the terminal operations team in various US Terminal locations and providing input for the Terminal Manager in daily tank & meter control.
What You'll Do
The Terminal Stock Reconciliation Analyst is an experienced and highly motivated industry professional that possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The individual will manage stock accounting duties in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
On a day-to-day basis, the Terminal Stock Reconciliation Analyst will interact with our terminal teams to ensure timely and accurate stock accounting duties.
Data Collection and Recording:
- Collect closing physical meter and tank readings, goods receipts and special or daily movements (tank to tank transfer, flushes, etc.) movements at a regular time each working day.
- Process bookings in Terminal Management System of all product movements
- Record data, including calculations of product which are not metered automatically.
- Process additive orders and deliveries to Shell-owned and third-party terminals.
- Liaise with the Supply team on additives replenishment.
Daily and Monthly Terminal Stock Reconciliation:
- Perform and document daily meter and tank reconciliation: Compare the actual physical stocks to the calculated book stocks per tank level at standard temperature
- Reconcile gantry meters, additive meters, blend meters, facility receipt or delivery meters, etc
- Identify and document meter/tank gains/losses.
- Record reasons for differences, corrective action being taken, investigation, and expected resolution in the terminal cockpit (TC). Retain documentation in line with Group Records Management.
- Notify the Terminal Manager or TM's Delegate daily on reconciliation results
- Act as the primary contact for Terminal Operations, Terminal Manager, Supply, Finance Operations and Order to Delivery teams in terminal inventory related matters
- Liaise with Terminal's stakeholders on solving errors and queries on missing movements or interface issues

Additional requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, finance, accounting, business administration or related field.
- At least 1 year of industry-related experience required.
- Knowledge of terminal operations and the stock accounting process is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail for daily reconciliation and error resolution.
- Experience working with a broad level of stakeholders.
- Effective stakeholder engagement skills to manage relationships across different businesses and functions.
- Experience in Terminal Management Systems is desirable.
- Ability to show a high degree of independence, initiative, and good judgement.
- Excellent data entry, record keeping and analytical skills.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organization, both internally and externally, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- A learning attitude, focused on personal growth, development, and enhancement of relationships with key stakeholders across regions and inter-departmentally.
