Job Description:
The Staff Writer for Smart Parenting must ensure consistent refresh rate of the website by creating and managing relevant content in different multimedia formats such as (but not limited to) short and long-form articles, art card text, photo and video captions for the website and social media properties. Writing speed is also essential.
The role will also monitor reliable sources of information (official company releases, details from event coverage, legitimate social media channels). The Staff Writer is also expected to collaborate with other Summit Media brands, whenever possible. He/she may also be asked to do admin-related work such as coordinating with contributors, among others.
Responsibilities:
- Participates and contributes ideas during brainstorming activities.
- Decides on themes or subjects for written work, conducts research into the subject, conceptualizes/assembles background material and obtain other necessary data.
- Assists with photo and video shoots.
- Conducts interviews and write articles.
- Conducts extensive research to obtain and verify facts and analyzes sources for accuracy of information.
- Composes and edits articles for the website.
- Prepares and refers articles to the Assistant Managing Editor for their thorough review and approval.
- Modifies or edits work, making sure that the style is consistent with the website's tone, and that the theme and main ideas of the article are adhered to with appropriate citations when necessary.
- Represent the media brand during events, interviews, and official functions.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

- Writes a clear, effective copy that fits the voice of the brand
- Can edit submissions from contributors, writers to ensure site is publishing clean copies

Position requirements:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelor's/College Degree in Advertising/Media, Journalism, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Mass Communications, or equivalent
- At least 2 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position
- Preferably 1-4 years experienced employees specializing in a Journalist/Editor role, or equivalent
