Staff Accountant
We are looking for a dynamic and engaging Staff Accountant for an opportunity to join an industry-leading Property & Casualty insurance carrier focused on partnering with Reinsurers, MGAs/Program Administrators, and Insurtechs.
We provide access to commercial lines utilizing our admitted and non-admitted capabilities across all 50 states. You would join a deeply experienced and broadly talented operating team where your experience and drive will become instrumental in further growing our business. In addition to the day-to-day coordination of activities related to internal and external functions supporting the finance department this position is also responsible for but is not limited to the following:
• Review and processing of premium tax estimated and annual returns. Actively coordinate with Tri-tech (third-party vendor) for any data requests and inquiries. Update Issue View (Tri-tech software) and ensure all required documentation is uploaded completely and on time.
• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statement schedules (e.g., Schedule T, etc.) with accuracy and proper documentation.
• Support the preparation of statutory footnote disclosures, ensuring all calculations are accurate and clearly supported.
• Prepare assigned journal entries for monthly general ledger close.
• Assists with month-end close processes.
• Assist in the preparation of GAAP financial statements and management reporting packages, including materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and internal deadlines.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses as requested by management, delivering results in a clear and timely manner. Adapt to shifting priorities and provide reliable support across reporting cycles.
• Contribute to special projects as assigned, which may span regulatory initiatives, process improvements, system enhancements, or cross-functional analyses. Bring a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to project deliverables and deadlines.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 2-5 years accounting experience, insurance industry experience a plus
• Able to work independently through projects assigned
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills
• Quick learner and with the ability to adapt to changing work requirements
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team
• Problem solver
