Position Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies. This role assists with month-end close, financial reporting, accounts reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance to support accurate and timely financial information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
- Process and review accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
- Assist with time collection to support the ADP payroll
- Reconciliation of General Ledger accounts supporting payroll
- Post ADP Labor Distribution back in to SAGE Intacct
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.
- Support audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 2–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
