Job Description
About the job
Arden Consult is the leading consulting firm in the Philippines for emerging technology. Our lawyers and strategists advise some of the world's largest technology and gaming companies on demanding projects in gaming and financial technology, including crypto.
We are growing our finance and account team and are hiring a staff accountant to help run it. You will report to our Finance Director and handle much of the daily accounting work for our Philippine and Singapore entities, from journal entries and reconciliations to payments and filing support. The role suits a recent CPA who wants to see how a finance function spanning two countries is built, and who expects to take on more responsibility as it grows.
You might be a good fit if...
- You passed the CPA board exam in the past two years and want a job that tests what you learned at university.
- You take ownership of your work. If a receipt is missing, you track it down yourself, and it bothers you when the books don't tie out.
- You are careful with numbers and check your own work before anyone else has to.
- You finish what you start and keep people informed about where things stand.
- You are comfortable in a small team where many processes are still being written, and you are happy to help write them.
- You learn new software quickly and look for ways to automate repetitive work.
- You ask questions early when you are unsure, and you learn from the answers.
What you'll do
- Record day-to-day transactions and prepare journal entries for Arden's Philippine and Singapore entities.
- Reconcile bank and payment accounts on a regular schedule, and look into any differences until they are cleared.
- Process vendor payments and expense reimbursements, issue client invoices and follow up on late collections.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documents for payroll and for filings with the BIR and IRAS, under the Finance Director's supervision.
- Use the firm's finance software every day, including Xero for accounting and Airwallex and Wise for cross-border payments.
- Prepare workpapers for the month-end close and audits, and draft schedules for management reporting.
- Write down finance procedures as they are set up, so that the work can be repeated and checked.
- Keep records and filings organized and ready for audit.
What we're looking for
- Licensed CPA with a degree in accountancy or a related field from a top Philippine university.
- One to two years of experience in audit, tax or accounting since graduating.
- A good grounding in Philippine tax and accounting rules, and a wish to build on it.
- Close attention to detail and the discipline to see tasks through to the end.
- The ability to manage several tasks at once with light supervision, and the judgment to know when to ask for help.
- A willingness to do whatever the work requires.
Nice to have
- Audit or tax experience at a Big Four firm.
- An internship or job at a startup or technology company.
- Familiarity with Xero, Airwallex, Wise or similar tools.
- Exposure to multi-currency or cross-border transactions.
- Interest in the gaming and technology industries.
- Interest in using automation and AI tools in finance work.
