Job Summary:
The Senior Property Underwriter will handle property accounts, determine appropriate coverage and pricing, work closely with Sales, Brokers, Agents, and other distribution channels, and contribute to maintaining a profitable and well-balanced property insurance portfolio.
What You'll Do:
- Review and assess new and existing property insurance accounts based on risk characteristics and underwriting guidelines.
- Analyze risk exposures and determine appropriate terms, conditions, coverage, and rates.
- Evaluate the acceptability of risks within the company's risk appetite and delegated authority.
- Work closely with Sales, Brokers, Agents, and other distribution channels to understand client requirements and develop appropriate insurance solutions.
- Review policy information, risk details, and supporting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including profitability and loss ratio, and identify potential risk concerns or improvement opportunities.
- Ensure that all underwriting activities comply with company policies, underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and reinsurance arrangements.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely processing and resolution of underwriting requirements.
- Provide technical recommendations and support on property underwriting matters.
- Assist in maintaining accurate underwriting records and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement of underwriting processes and service delivery.
- Perform other related underwriting duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
What You Need to Have:
- Bachelor's degree in any four-year course.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, preferably in Property/Fire Underwriting or Non-Life Insurance.
- Knowledge and experience in Property Risk Assessment.
- Strong understanding of Risk Selection and Pricing.
- Knowledge of Policy Wording and Coverage Analysis.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Sales, Brokers, Agents, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to review and recommend appropriate underwriting terms based on risk characteristics.
- Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, limits of authority, regulatory requirements, and reinsurance arrangements is an advantage.
- Customer-focused, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
