Senior Staff Accountant Corporate Accounting
Job Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant Corporate Accounting is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, with a strong focus on cash management, bank reconciliations, and corporate expense accounting. This role partners closely with cross-functional finance teams to support month-end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, and continuous process improvement initiatives. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, attention to detail, prioritization skills, and a proactive mindset toward improving accounting processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Cash Management & Reconciliations
- Manage cash accounts and perform accurate and timely bank reconciliations
- Handle complex reconciliations, including transactions involving third-party platforms
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Cash Operations, Treasury, Revenue Accounting, Tax, and other internal teams to resolve reconciling items
Journal Entries & Accounting
- Prepare, review, and upload journal entries related to wire transfers and high-volume transactions
- Ensure appropriate supporting documentation and compliance with accounting policies
- Perform timely balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances
Corporate Expense Accounting (A&P and G&A)
- Oversee Advertising & Promotion (A&P) and General & Administrative (G&A) profit and loss accounts
- Prepare and manage A&P and G&A accruals
- Monitor and reconcile prepaid expenses and related balance sheet accounts
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Execute month-end close activities under strict deadlines
- Prepare account reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reporting schedules
- Analyze actual results against forecast and prior periods in partnership with FP&A and operational teams
- Participate in month-end review meetings to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance, including lease accounting standards where applicable
Planning, Analysis & Support
- Support planning and forecasting activities related to A&P and G&A accounts
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and insights for ad hoc management requests
- Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned
Process Improvement & Controls
- Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Identify, understand, and address compliance and internal control risks
- Provide timely communication and issue resolution support to internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong experience in corporate accounting, month-end close, and reconciliations
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of management
