Job Summary

The Quality Control Engineer - SMT is responsible for driving product and process quality excellence within Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing operations. This role ensures consistent achievement of yield and On-Time, In-Full (OTIF/OATF) targets through robust process control, defect reduction initiatives, and data-driven decision-making. The position actively leads root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities, implements continuous improvement programs, and collaborates cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and customer teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements. The role is also instrumental in supporting new product introduction (NPI) and product transfers to mass production.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Performance Monitoring & Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality performance data (e.g., yield, OATF, defect trends) to identify improvement opportunities
  • Initiate, drive, and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross-functional teams to sustain continuous quality improvement.

Quality Documentation & Control

  • Review, validate, and release critical quality documents including Purging Notices, Quality Alerts, MRB dispositions, RMA reports, ECOs, ePBR LRS, and Work Instructions (WIs)
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of quality issues affecting in-process or shipped products.

Issue Management & Escalation

  • Issue Stop Build/Ship notices when critical quality risks are identified
  • Lead follow-up activities for root cause analysis, containment, and resolution of issues associated with Hold Shipment Notices and customer complaints.

Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action

  • Lead RCCA/8D activities for manufacturing and customer-related issues.
  • Validate effectiveness of corrective actions through data monitoring, audits, and process verification

Audit & Compliance

  • Conduct regular process audits and spot checks to ensure adherence to containment plans and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and industry standards

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare and present periodic quality reports (e.g., Yield, OATF, defect analysis) to stakeholders.
  • Communicate quality performance, risks, and improvement actions clearly across teams.

Product Transfer & NPI Support

  • Collaborate with transfer teams to qualify products transitioning from other manufacturing.
  • Monitor transfer builds, validate process readiness, and generate qualification reports.
  • Support NPI to mass production handover by reviewing and updating quality plans, control plans, and required documentation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, defect prevention, and cost reduction
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, and other quality improvement initiatives within SMT operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Electronics, or a related Science field
  • With 5-10 years of experience in electronics or semiconductor manufacturing/
  • Strong expertise in SPC, data analysis, and PFMEA
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving (8D, RCCA, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Knowledge of reliability testing, failure analysis, and risk assessment
  • Experience with build, validation, and qualification reporting
  • Familiar with ISO, IPC, and other manufacturing quality systems
  • Willing to work onsite in Rosario, Cavite
  • Hands-on experience in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) and SMT (Surface Mount Technology) processes. (preferred)
