Role Overview

The Senior Manager / Assistant Director – Investments will lead the evaluation, structuring, and execution of renewable energy investments across Asia-Pacific.

This role is accountable for driving transaction outcomes, shaping investment recommendations, and influencing capital deployment decisions, working closely with senior leadership, lenders, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Investment Leadership & Financial Modelling

  • Own the development, review, and integrity of complex project finance models across transactions
  • Translate financial outputs into clear investment recommendations and IC positioning
  • Lead scenario, sensitivity, and risk analysis to support investment decisions and capital allocation
  • Review and challenge inputs across technical, commercial, and regulatory workstreams

2. Transaction Execution (Deal Ownership)

  • Lead end-to-end execution of investments, from evaluation through financial close
  • Own preparation and presentation of Investment Committee materials and recommendations
  • Drive transaction timelines, identify key risks, and manage escalations
  • Lead negotiation of term sheets, JV agreements, and sale & purchase agreements

3. Project Finance & Structuring

  • Design and optimize capital structures (equity, mezzanine, debt)
  • Lead engagement with banks, DFIs, and financing partners
  • Drive financing strategy, lender negotiations, and bankability outcomes

4. Due Diligence & Investment Judgment

  • Define and lead overall due diligence strategy across transactions
  • Integrate financial, legal, and technical insights into go / no-go investment decisions
  • Identify key risks and mitigation strategies

5. Market & Investment Strategy

  • Contribute to investment thesis development and pipeline strategy across markets
  • Evaluate acquisition and development opportunities across Southeast Asia and APAC
  • Provide insights on tariffs, PPAs, regulatory frameworks, and revenue structures

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a primary interface with lenders, investors, and external partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, engineering, legal, and finance teams
  • Manage and oversee external advisors (financial, legal, technical)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field (MBA/CFA preferred)
  • 8–12+ years of experience in project finance, infrastructure investing, investment banking, or renewable energy
  • Proven track record of leading renewable energy or infrastructure transactions end-to-end
  • Strong expertise in project finance modelling and deal structuring
  • Experience engaging directly with lenders, investors, and financing partners

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced financial modelling capability (project finance models)
  • Strong commercial judgment and risk assessment capability
  • Ability to present and defend investment cases to senior stakeholders / IC
  • Strong execution ability across multiple concurrent transactions
  • High level of stakeholder management and cross-border coordination

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Southeast Asia or emerging markets
  • Exposure to solar, wind, storage, or hybrid energy systems
  • Experience working with institutional investors or infrastructure funds
