About the Company
Our client is a US hedge-fund-backed IT firm. Established in 2019, they deliver 24/7 global services in financial data science, DevOps, software engineering, and high-performance computing. They are building a next-generation Corporate Reference Data Platform used by financial institutions worldwide.
To support our steady march to realization, we are looking for smart, self-motivated, and hardworking individuals looking to team up with us in this endeavor, have a lot of fun doing it, and earn above the industry's average.
About the Role
We are building a Corporate Reference Data Platform to serve financial institutions worldwide, and we need a senior securities data expert to be our trusted authority on global reference data. This role is designed for capital markets experts, not developers. You will serve as the subject matter expert guiding platform development, data validation, and quality standards. Your knowledge of securities identifiers, corporate actions, and cross-border data complexities will inform every critical decision about how our platform operates.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary authority on securities identifiers (ISIN, FIGI, CUSIP, SEDOL), corporate actions, and regulatory disclosure data across global markets
Guide development teams by defining data requirements, validation rules, and business logic based on real-world securities processing needs
Advise on how corporate events (dividends, mergers, spin-offs, tender offers) should be tracked and represented across different markets
Establish quality standards and validation frameworks for institutional-grade reference data
Document securities data standards, mapping methodologies, and processing guidelines
Mentor junior analysts and collaborate with global teams across Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific
Required Qualifications:
Experience & Background
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field 5+ years of hands-on experience in global equity reference data, corporate actions processing, or securities data management
Experience at a global financial data vendor, market data provider, or securities data aggregator strongly preferred
Securities Expertise (Primary requirement)
Expert-level understanding of global securities identifier systems (ISIN, FIGI, CUSIP, SEDOL), including how they map across systems and jurisdictional applicability, comprehensive knowledge of corporate actions lifecycles, event types, timing conventions, and regional variations
Strong familiarity with regulatory filings and corporate disclosures across multiple jurisdictions
Understanding of security master data concepts, symbology challenges, and cross-border securities complexities (ADR/GDR, dual listings)
Experience with how corporate actions are sourced, normalized, and distributed across multi-vendor data environments
Technical Skills (Not required; training provided)
Basic SQL for data validation is helpful but not required (we will provide training)
Python or scripting experience is a plus (we support skill development)
Unix/Linux command-line experience is valued but not essential, training available
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS) is beneficial (we will support your learning)
Understanding of ETL processes, data vendor APIs, or reference data feeds is a plus
Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to support research, documentation, or problem-solving in day-to-day work is valued
We prioritize your securities expertise over technical skills and will invest in developing your technical capabilities.
Professional Skills
Excellent English communication skills for global collaboration
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Attention to detail with ability to identify data quality issues
Experience mentoring or guiding team members
Additional
Broader market exposure (including US and European markets)
Strong hands-on corporate actions processing experience (not just oversight)
Deeper security master architecture and build-level understanding
Familiarity with SEC filings, CUSIP, and global regulatory frameworks
Technical exposure beyond VBA (ideally Python / SQL knowledge)
You Are a Good Fit for This Role If You:
Have spent years working with global reference data at a market data vendor or similar environment
Are the person colleagues turn to when facing complex securities identifier or corporate actions questions
Can explain why a particular identifier structure matters or how a cross-border merger should flow through reference data systems
Understand regional variations in how corporate events are handled across different markets
Want to apply your hard-won expertise to shape how institutional-grade reference data is managed
Enjoy mentoring others and translating complex securities concepts into clear guidance
Are comfortable leveraging modern tools, including AI assistants, to enhance your productivity
