Job Description
- Key Responsibilities:
- Database Development & Management:
- Design, develop, and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Develop, test, and deploy database solutions to meet business requirements.
- Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and triggers.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization:
- Analyze and optimize database queries for performance improvements and efficiency.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues, including slow queries, locking, and deadlocks.
- Implement and ensure the best practices for indexing, query optimization, and data retrieval.
- Data Integrity & Quality:
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy within the databases by designing robust database schemas and validation processes.
- Implement ETL processes and data migrations as required by business or project needs.
- Create and maintain automated data validation and reconciliation routines.
- Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:
- Collaborate with business analysts and other stakeholders to gather database requirements for new features and systems.
- Translate business requirements into efficient and scalable database solutions.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support data integration with various systems, including data warehousing solutions.
- Database Security & Backup:
- Implement and maintain database security measures, ensuring appropriate access control and encryption.
- Monitor, maintain, and verify regular database backups and restore procedures.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations as applicable.
- Reporting & Data Analytics:
- Write complex SQL queries to generate reports and provide actionable business insights.
- Work with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to create interactive dashboards and reports.
- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data warehouses or data lakes for consolidated business data reporting.
- Database Documentation & Best Practices:
- Document database design, development processes, and procedures.
- Establish and enforce best practices for SQL development, database performance, and code versioning.
- Create user manuals and documentation for technical teams and end-users as required.
- Continuous Improvement & Troubleshooting:
- Stay updated on new database technologies, best practices, and industry trends.
- Provide troubleshooting and technical support for any database-related issues.
- Continuously look for ways to improve database performance, efficiency, and scalability.
