Job Description

The Solutions Architect defines how systems, platforms, devices, data, and workflows will work together to deliver the approved smart building/estate capabilities.

The role produces vendor-ready technical requirements and architecture documents, coordinates digital interfaces with ELV and building/estate systems, and ensures interoperability, cybersecurity, data usability, resilience, and maintainability throughout design, procurement, implementation, and testing.

Solutions Architecture

  • Develop the overall solution architecture covering applications, data, integrations, technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, field systems, and user-facing platforms.
  • Translate business, operational, and smart design requirements into functional, non-functional, technical, and integration requirements.
  • Define how building/estate, ELV, IoT, and digital platforms interact through APIs, protocols, middleware, gateways, event brokers, and other integration methods.
  • Design solutions including Digital Twin, Business Intelligence, IWMS, Visitor Management, IoT platforms, data platforms, and related smart environment capabilities.
  • Define system context diagrams, solution architecture diagrams, data flows, interface requirements, and the target technology infrastructure, including cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployment models, as well as compute, storage, network, security, availability, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and environment requirements.
  • Establish requirements for data structures, data ownership, systems of record, contextualization, security, availability, scalability, resilience, support, and maintainability.
  • Evaluate technology options, vendor solutions, and design alternatives, and recommend approaches that are feasible, interoperable, secure, and aligned with the approved design principles.

Project Support

  • Support project workshops, requirements gathering, consultant coordination, and technical discussions with clients, designers, contractors, operators, and vendors.
  • Provide technical inputs to smart design reports, solution catalogues, capability roadmaps, business cases, specifications, drawings, interface matrices, and procurement documents.
  • Coordinate with the Enterprise Architect, Smart Design Architect, Assistant Smart Design Architect, MEPF and ELV consultants, ICT teams, and specialist vendors.
  • Review consultant and vendor submissions, including technical proposals, system architectures, integration plans, compliance matrices, shop drawings, product data, and cybersecurity documentation.
  • Support tender clarifications, technical bid evaluations, vendor demonstrations, value-engineering reviews, RFIs, RFAs, and design-change assessments.
  • Define and review functional testing, interface testing, data validation, FAT, SAT, integrated systems testing, user acceptance testing, and technical handover requirements.
  • Identify and communicate technical risks, dependencies, scope gaps, design conflicts, and decisions requiring escalation to the project lead or assigned Project Manager.

Key Deliverables

  • Digital Systems and Integration Architecture; System Context Diagrams; Interface Control Matrix and Integration Narratives; API, Protocol, and Event Requirements
  • Conceptual and Logical Data Models; Data Dictionary and Data Mapping Requirements
  • Application and Platform Requirements; Functional and Non-Functional Requirements Specifications
  • Cybersecurity and Technical Resilience Requirements; Hosting and Deployment Architecture for cloud and on-premises implementations
  • Integration, Performance, and Acceptance Test Requirements
  • Vendor Compliance Matrix and Technical Evaluation Criteria
  • As-Built Systems Architecture and Technical Handover Review
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing enterprise systems, IoT, building technology, data, or systems-integration solutions.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, databases, integration platforms, cloud and on-premises infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, and data platforms.
  • Familiarity with building systems such as BMS, access control, CCTV/VMS, metering, elevators, parking, lighting controls, IoT gateways, and sensors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop functional, non-functional, interface, data, and technical procurement requirements.
  • Strong technical documentation, diagramming, specification-writing, and vendor-evaluation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, developers, data teams, ICT teams, and client technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, operational handovers, or production-support readiness is preferred.
