Job Title: Solar Technical Engineer
Location: Paseo de Roxas, Makati (w/ frequent travel to project sites)
Work Set Up: Onsite
Work Shift: Mondays to Fridays, 9AM to 6PM
About the Role:
He will manage key aspects of technical engineering requirement of under development, construction and operational solar power projects with a focus on project development; providing technical design and document review, managing project resources; providing technical calculations and analyses; reviewing of contracts and agreements; and managing technical regulatory compliances. The candidate will manage project control functions to include administration, planning, cost control and document control.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designing solar photovoltaic (PV), evaluating factors like solar irradiance, shading, and system orientation to determine optimal system placement, analyzing system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and optimizing energy output.
- Provide technical calculations and analyses, and technical reports on under predevelopment, development, construction, and operational projects.
- Review technical specifications including technical descriptions of major equipment, breakdown cost bill of quantity, sub-contractor scope-of-work and O&M manuals.
- Spearheads the DOE, ERC, NGCP, WESM, and EMB technical requirements data submissions and compliances of under development and existing power plants.
Job Description:
- Working closely with the Technical Team, Solar Contracts Administrator & Coordinator, and Business Development Team.
- Site inspections support traveling frequently to project sites under development, construction or operational, and that are prospective.
- Manage and coordinate between other disciplines: Owner's Engineer, O&M engineers, EPC, sub-contractors, vendors, service providers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, distribution utilities, clients, and technical teams.
- Manage and coordinate with site engineers and technicians for the generation monitoring, operations, maintenance, and technical problems of solar power plants after construction.
- Support construction and review of a quality policy manual, including procedures manual, work instructions, document processing and template, contracts, and agreements.
- Support in the review and selection of service providers including EPC contractors, vendors, technical advisers, and Owner's Engineers.
- Support in review and certify EPC contractor-supplied drawings and technical documents for proper engineering interface, standards, and utility interconnection.
- Support in preparing technical operations budget for existing power plants.
- Support land acquisition and identification of potential project sites.
- Support third-party audits on existing power plants.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Registered Electrical Engineer.
- Must have at least 5+ years of technical experience in solar photovoltaic (PV), for utility scale and rooftop.
- Experience in electrical systems, whether commercial or utility grids.
- Experience in energy project development or construction (Solar PV + BESS preferred)
- Knowledgeable in International and Philippine Standards for electrical systems.
- Knowledgeable in Local Energy Regulation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel often.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally internally, externally, and internationally with drive and discipline.
- Well-organized and systematic.
- Strong organizational skills and good teamwork skills.
