Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Acts as an application/system engineering expert for the business; Takes the lead in discussing technical
solutions and product ideas in design reviews; Contributes to projects and provides technical guidance for management and other stakeholders both inside and outside the engineering team, especially on solutions
for challenging problems.
• Contributes to the overall performance and quality of the engineering activities for the dedicated BUs; Leads
the planning, scheduling, and execution of IT engineering activities for the team and oversees all phases of
the SDLC to deliver software into production
• Works with, coaches, and manages a high-performance engineering team to develop roadmaps, define delivery goals, and achieve these within agreed timelines
• Establishes and practices high engineering standards and habits that align with SBC's overall IT standards and policies to ensure the high software quality
• Stays abreast of the latest technological advances and trends that could benefit the bank with positive technical direction across all product lines and develops continuous improvement strategies for the BU's related applications and platforms; Actively participates in peer code reviews to ensure code quality and transfer of knowledge
• Invests in the careers of the BU Engineering team by providing opportunities for growth and advancement
and clearly understandable goals so performance can be measured fairly and reasonably; Recruits, develops, and grows talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies
• It is accepted and understood that the employee may perform other related tasks which may be assigned
from time to time
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Years of Work Experience: 5-8 years of experience leading teams of engineers in a technology or software
development environment
• Educational Attainment/Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Required/Preferred Certification/Professional License (if applicable):
• Certifications in relevant technologies and programming languages
• Certifications in project management, such as PMP or Agile certifications
• Certifications in IT service management, such as ITIL
• Certifications in software development methodologies, such as Scrum or SAFe
• Field of Specialization (if applicable):
• Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies
• Experience with a variety of programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, and JavaScript
• Experience with API design and development, including RESTful and SOAP web services
• Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and
Kubernetes
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Scrum and Jira
• Understanding of security principles and experience implementing security controls in a software
development environment
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skill
