Software Engineer (Java)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Application Development

a. Design, develop, and maintain fintech/cloud applications (e.g., payment systems, scalable dashboards) using languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript.

b. Implement moderately complex features and modules based on business and technical requirements.

c.  Write clean, scalable, and reusable code adhering to coding standards and best practices.

• Requirement Analysis & Solution Design

a. Collaborate with Tech Leads, Product Managers, and stakeholders to understand and clarify technical requirements.

b. Design application components, user interfaces, and database structures, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.

c. Perform unit testing and document system architecture to support future maintenance.

• Application Stability, Security, and Performance

a. Ensure application stability by proactively identifying and resolving issues, targeting 99.8% uptime.

b. Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data (e.g., payment transactions) and mitigate vulnerabilities.

c. Conduct performance testing and optimization to improve system efficiency and scalability.

• Collaboration and Teamwork

a. Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., QA, UI/UX, PM) to deliver integrated solutions.

b. Participate in Agile/Scrum processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

c. Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices, providing constructive feedback to peers.

• Customer Engagement & Support

a. Assist in resolving technical issues reported by internal teams or customers, ensuring timely responses within 24 hours.

b. Provide troubleshooting, debugging, and support for software applications, documenting solutions for knowledge sharing.

c. Maintain a customer satisfaction rate of 90% without escalations.

• Continuous Improvement

a. Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and technologies (e.g., Java Spring, cloud platforms like AWS).

b. Propose innovative solutions to enhance application performance and development processes.

c. Complete at least one professional development course or certification annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript).
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• 2-6 years of experience in software development, preferably in fintech or cloud environments.
• Experience with Java Spring, microservices, or cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) and frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot)
• Knowledge of databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and API development (e.g., REST).
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
