Job Summary
We are seeking a FircoSoft Application Integration Engineer with strong experience in messaging, integration technologies, data processing, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with technologies such as Kafka and IBM MQ, along with a good understanding of enterprise application integration and transaction processing.
The role will involve supporting and integrating FircoSoft/COTS applications within a complex enterprise environment. The candidate should be comfortable working with existing applications, understanding integration flows, troubleshooting production issues, and collaborating with technical and business teams. Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools such as GitHub Copilot is expected, along with a willingness to learn new technologies and enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Application & FircoSoft Support
- Support and maintain FircoSoft and other enterprise/COTS applications.
- Develop a strong understanding of application architecture, business processes, interfaces, and dependencies.
- Analyze application issues and provide effective troubleshooting and resolution.
- Work with application, infrastructure, middleware, database, and production support teams to resolve incidents.
- Support application upgrades, configuration changes, deployments, and production releases.
- Understand existing FircoSoft integrations and support enhancements as required.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for complex application issues.
Messaging & Integration
- Design, develop, configure, and support enterprise integration solutions using Kafka, IBM MQ, and related messaging technologies.
- Work with event-driven architectures and asynchronous communication patterns.
- Understand message producers, consumers, queues, topics, partitions, offsets, acknowledgements, and message delivery patterns.
- Troubleshoot message processing failures, delayed messages, duplicate messages, and integration issues.
- Monitor message flows and ensure reliable communication between enterprise applications.
- Support integration between FircoSoft and upstream/downstream enterprise systems.
- Analyze message payloads and identify issues in data transformation or routing.
API Development & Integration
- Develop, consume, and support RESTful APIs for enterprise application integration.
- Work with API request/response structures and troubleshoot API failures.
- Handle data formats including JSON and XML.
- Understand HTTP methods, status codes, headers, authentication, and error handling.
- Perform API testing and troubleshooting using tools such as Postman or similar utilities.
- Support integration between APIs, messaging platforms, databases, and enterprise applications.
Data Processing & System Integration
- Understand data processing flows across distributed enterprise applications.
- Analyze data movement between source systems, middleware, FircoSoft, and downstream applications.
- Troubleshoot data transformation, mapping, routing, and processing issues.
- Ensure data is accurately transferred across integrated systems.
- Work with structured data formats such as JSON and XML.
- Investigate discrepancies between source and target systems.
Event-Driven Architecture
- Understand and support event-driven and distributed application architectures.
- Work with asynchronous event processing and message-based integration patterns.
- Analyze application dependencies and integration points.
- Support scalable and reliable event-processing solutions.
- Participate in architecture discussions and recommend appropriate integration approaches.
Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide application and integration support in production environments.
- Analyze logs, application errors, message failures, API errors, and processing issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and document corrective actions.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Support production deployments and post-deployment validation.
- Monitor application and integration health and proactively identify potential issues.
- Work within defined SLA and operational support processes.
AI-Enabled Development
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve developer productivity.
- Apply AI-enabled tools for code development, debugging, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Follow enterprise security and governance guidelines while using AI development tools.
- Stay current with emerging AI-assisted software engineering practices.
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, architects, QA, DevOps, middleware, infrastructure, and business teams.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand integration requirements and technical dependencies.
- Document application flows, integration interfaces, troubleshooting procedures, and technical solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Messaging & Middleware
- Strong hands-on experience with Kafka.
- Experience with IBM MQ or similar enterprise messaging technologies.
- Understanding of message queues, topics, producers, consumers, and asynchronous processing.
- Good understanding of enterprise integration patterns.
API & Integration
- Strong understanding of REST APIs.
- Experience working with JSON and XML.
- Understanding of HTTP/HTTPS protocols and API communication.
- Experience with API testing and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of system-to-system integration and data exchange.
Data Processing
- Understanding of data processing and transformation.
- Ability to analyze data flows across multiple systems.
- Experience troubleshooting data integration and processing issues.
FircoSoft / COTS Applications
- Experience working with FircoSoft/Firco applications is highly preferred.
- Exposure to enterprise COTS products and their integration with internal applications.
- Ability to quickly learn application architecture, configuration, interfaces, and business workflows.
- Experience supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
Development & Scripting
- Good programming or scripting experience.
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot application code.
- Experience with Java, Python, or similar programming languages is preferred.
- Familiarity with Git and source-control practices.
AI Development Tools
- Familiarity with GitHub Copilot or similar AI-enabled development tools.
- Understanding of responsible and secure use of AI-assisted coding tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Firco Continuity / FircoSoft.
- Experience in banking, financial services, payments, or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of transaction processing and financial messaging.
- Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Azure.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
- Experience with application monitoring and observability tools.
- Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases is desirable.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Candidate Profile

- Have 3–6 years of professional experience in application integration, middleware, enterprise application support, or software engineering.
- Have strong hands-on experience with Kafka and/or IBM MQ.

- Be comfortable troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis.

- Be proactive in adopting modern development practices, including AI-assisted development tools.
