What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3-5 years of software engineering experience with progressive responsibility
- 2+ years in a senior, technical leadership, team lead, or software development leadership role
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, coaching, and managing development teams
- Strong stakeholder, client, or productmanagementexposure, with the ability to align technical delivery with business needs
- Willingness and ability to work a night shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 3+ years of production Ruby on Rails development experience
- 3+ years of front-end developmentexperienceusing CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React
- Strong experience with RESTful APIs and backend SQL databases
- In-depth knowledge of testing frameworks such as RSpec and Jest, as well as TDD practices
- Experience using Git and GitHub for version control, code collaboration, and development workflows
- Familiarity with Sidekiq, Bootstrap, and Postgres
- Strong system design, architecture, and technical decision-making skills
- Experience facilitating agile ceremonies, sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical discussions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to drive ownership, accountability, and delivery quality within an engineering team
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remove blockers, anticipate risks, and guide solutions
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
- Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and technical discussions while promoting ownership, accountability, and engineering excellence.
- Design and architect scalable solutions for new features, system enhancements, integrations, and platform improvements.
- Build roadmap-driven features using efficient Ruby code, proven design patterns, and scalable application architecture.
- Maintain and improve existing code, tests, and features while managing technical debt and supporting long-term system reliability.
- Translate business requirements and data models into scalable applications, workflows, and technical solutions.
- Establish and enforce coding, documentation, testing, and review standards across the development process.
- Write and review unit and integration tests before launch, and conduct design and code reviews to ensure best practices.
- Design and implement enterprise-scale solutions aligned with business strategy and platform goals.
- Work with REST APIs, evaluate third-party integration approaches, and connect applications with external platforms and existing IT infrastructure.
- Partner with product managers and stakeholders to define scope, clarify requirements, and align technical delivery with business needs.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences while advocating for user experience, system reliability, and product quality.
- Stay current with evolving technologies, frameworks, and tools, share improvements with the engineering team, and support new business capabilities through modern engineering practices.
