Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Manager supporting both strategic and operational initiatives within our Android payments and terminal ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Android-based payment solutions, terminal integrations, and cross-functional team leadership. This role demands a hands-on technical leader with proven experience in android applications, payment processing, and agile delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Director in defining and executing strategic roadmaps specific to Android payment terminals.
- Provide regular updates on engineering velocity, hardware/software integration progress, and compliance challenges.
- Represent the Director in internal planning and external stakeholder meetings
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Android-focused engineering squads, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product delivery timelines.
- Drive the execution of terminal-based payment solutions, ensuring performance, reliability, and security compliance.
- Oversee terminal SDK and middleware integration, payment app development, and Android system layer customizations.
- Collaborate with Product Owner, QA, and Compliance teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of terminal payment features.
- Coach and mentor engineers on topics including EMV kernel integration, NFC/contactless flows, and Android security.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in mobile payments, terminal certification (e.g., EMVCo, PCI-PTS), and secure coding standards.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives and performance monitoring.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with direct exposure to Android payment or POS systems.
- At least 2 years working on Android payment terminals, embedded payment solutions, or merchant-facing payment applications.
- Strong experience in Android development (Java/Kotlin), and integration with hardware peripherals
- Working knowledge of secure payment technologies including EMV, NFC/contactless, magnetic stripe, and QR-based solutions.
- Familiarity with terminal SDKs from providers such as PAX, Verifone, Ingenico, or Sunmi.
- Experience with mobile device management (MDM), and terminal certification processes.
- Solid grasp of Agile/Scrum practices and tools such as JIRA, and Git.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to manage technical risks and communicate across business and technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced, regulated environment while balancing multiple priorities.
