Software Developer Co-Builder | Backend, Frontend or Full Stack

We're building Venguild, a gamified career, learning, and social networking platform connecting professional growth with an RPG-inspired Adventurer identity.

We currently have 15 team members and are looking for developers who want to take ownership, build alongside us, and grow into long-term technical leadership.

We are bootstrapped and pre-revenue, with a separate marketing team supporting our marketing activities from November 2026 through February 2027.

Who this opportunity is for:

People who understand startup uncertainty, care about the product, and can see themselves contributing to its development over the next 5–10 years. This describes our intended long-term alignment, not a mandatory service period.

Part-time participation is welcome initially. We're particularly interested in people willing to increase their commitment as the company becomes sustainable and potentially grow into full-time founding-team leadership roles. Future appointments depend on contribution, mutual agreement, and company approvals.

Please do not apply if you need an immediate salary or guaranteed financial returns. Financial ambition is welcome, but this opportunity requires commitment to building the product through an uncertain early stage.

Development areas:

• Frontend: Responsive interfaces, reusable components, API integration, and Professional and Adventurer experiences.
• Backend: APIs, authentication, databases, business logic, security, and platform services.
• Full Stack: End-to-end feature development.
• Mobile development experience is a plus.

Our technology stack:

• Frontend: React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Databases: PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Infrastructure: AWS, including Amazon S3.
• Collaboration: Git, GitHub, and Jira.
• Proprietary systems: World Tree Engine, including experience crediting, elemental affinity, and personality-based character mapping.

You don't need experience with every technology, but you must have solid fundamentals and be willing to learn.

Requirements:

• Your own working PC capable of running the development environment.
• Reliable internet and a realistic, consistent weekly commitment.
• Your own access to AI development tools, such as Antigravity or Claude. Subscriptions are currently your responsibility.
• Ability to understand, review, test, and maintain your work, including AI-assisted code.
• Responsible AI use that follows company confidentiality and security requirements.
• Clear progress updates, participation in code reviews, documentation, and early communication of blockers.
• Ownership of agreed deliverables and willingness to collaborate across the team.

Equity and future salary

This opportunity offers up to 1% company equity through vesting. The individual award depends on agreed responsibilities, capacity, and expected contribution. The maximum is not automatic.

The current framework uses 24-month vesting, with checkpoints at months 6, 12, 18, and 24, subject to signed terms and contribution conditions.

Salaries may be introduced when the company has sufficient sustained income, available cash, and an approved compensation budget. Any salary, start date, and transition to a paid role will require a separate written agreement. There is no guaranteed salary timeline or financial return, and equity may never become liquid.
