Job Description

About Voyager Tennis:

Voyager Tennis is a leading racquet sports organisation operating across Sydney, Northern NSW, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Singapore. We deliver high-quality tennis, pickleball, and padel programs, and are committed to developing world-class coaching environments that support players of all ages and abilities.

As we continue to expand, we are building a stronger and more proactive talent function to support our growing international operations.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Social Media & Content Lead to own the development and execution of organic social media across Voyager Tennis, Voyager Pickleball, Voyager Padel, and the broader Voyager brand.

This is a hands-on role for a proactive and creative individual who can manage the full social media process — from strategy development, content planning, creation, editing, copywriting, and publishing through to audience engagement, performance analysis, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will identify opportunities, create compelling content, strengthen brand storytelling, and drive digital growth through consistent communication and measurable engagement.

Purpose of the Role:

To make Voyager's social channels feel active, current, distinctive and connected to what is happening across the business.

The person will ensure that:

  • Each brand has a clear social identity.
  • Content is planned consistently.
  • Major events and launches receive appropriate coverage.
  • Strong stories are identified before management needs to request them.
  • Raw footage is converted into engaging content quickly.
  • Comments and customer conversations are managed appropriately.
  • Social content supports brand growth, trials, bookings, registrations and enquiries.

Who will you report to

This role will report to the Head of Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience and will work closely with the Marketing Executives, Marketing team, Venue leaders, Coaches and program leaders, Event managers, and Website and digital team.

As the Social Media & Content Lead will not be physically based at Australian venues, they must be highly effective in managing remote collaboration. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing internal contributors, providing clear content briefs and shot lists, and proactively following up to ensure the required content is captured and delivered to support Voyager's social media strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Proven experience managing social media accounts, creating engaging content, and developing social media strategies.
  • Strong short-form video editing, social copywriting, and creative content skills.
  • Experience using Canva or similar creative tools, Meta platforms, scheduling tools, and social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Ability to manage multiple brands, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgement in managing community engagement and public interactions.
  • Confidence communicating, collaborating, and following up with internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, reliable, and able to take ownership from idea generation through to execution.
  • Ability to identify opportunities, provide solutions, make decisions, and continuously improve based on feedback.
  • Understanding that different brands require different communication styles.
  • Ability to work Australian operating hours, including agreed evening and weekend coverage.

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Experience in sport, fitness, recreation, events, hospitality, or community-based industries.
  • Experience working with Australian, British, or American organisations.
  • Experience managing content across multiple locations or venues.
  • Experience covering live events, competitions, or creating real-time content.
  • Experience working with remote contributors and understanding social media analytics.
  • Interest in tennis, pickleball, padel, or community sport (professional playing experience is not required).

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Strategy

  • Develop a social strategy for each of the four brands.
  • Define the audiences, content pillars, channel purpose and tone of voice.
  • Create monthly content calendars and weekly publishing plans.
  • Connect social activity to enrolments, events, competitions, launches and commercial priorities.
  • Recommend the appropriate platforms and formats for each brand.
  • Identify relevant trends without forcing unsuitable trends onto the brands.

  • Follow up with contributors when content has not been supplied.

Content Creation

  • Edit short-form video content from raw phone footage.
  • Create Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, stories and social graphics.
  • Write strong hooks, captions and calls to action.
  • Create basic carousels and graphics using Canva or equivalent tools.
  • Adapt content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Repurpose successful content appropriately without posting identical material everywhere.
  • Apply subtitles, branding, music and basic motion graphics where appropriate.

Publishing and Execution

  • Schedule and publish content.
  • Check links, tags, locations, formatting and calls to action.
  • Ensure posts are published at the appropriate time.

  • Give contributors specific instructions rather than simply asking them to send content.
  • Recognise content opportunities that have not been formally briefed.
  • Bring new ideas to the Australian marketing team.

Reactive Content

  • Monitor live events and emerging opportunities.
  • Recognise when content is gaining unusually strong traction.
  • Produce follow-up content quickly.
  • Respond appropriately to weather interruptions, sold-out events, major results and customer questions.
  • Know when to publish immediately and when approval or further information is required.
  • Escalate reputational, operational or customer-service issues.

Community Management

  • Monitor comments, direct messages, mentions and tagged content.
  • Respond during agreed coverage periods.
  • Apply the correct tone of voice for each brand.
  • Answer straightforward questions using approved information.
  • Direct operational enquiries to the appropriate customer-service channel.
  • Escalate complaints, safeguarding issues and sensitive matters.
  • Encourage user-generated content and community interaction.

Reporting and Optimisation

  • Prepare a concise monthly performance report.
  • Report on reach, engagement, video views, follower quality, website traffic, enquiries and conversions where measurable.
  • Identify the best and worst-performing content.
  • Explain why content performed as it did.
  • Recommend specific changes for the following month.
  • Test hooks, video lengths, formats, posting times and calls to action.

Expected Output

Initial output expectations across the complete brand group are:

  • Approximately 8–12 primary pieces of social content per week.
  • Platform-specific adaptations where appropriate.
  • Regular stories based on available business activity.
  • Scheduled community-management checks.
  • Reactive coverage of selected events and launches.
  • One weekly content plan.
  • One monthly performance report.
  • Regular content briefs and shot lists for Australian contributors.

The output should not be divided equally between all four brands. The content volume should reflect each brand's current priorities, available activity and audience size.

Working Hours and Flexible Coverage

This role requires flexibility as Voyager's social media activity extends beyond standard office hours. Competitions, events, launches, weather updates, customer interactions, and content opportunities may occur during evenings and weekends.

The recommended working structure is:

Working Hours per week (40 hours per week)

  • Core Hours (35 hrs per week)
  • The employee must be available between:
  • 10:00 am and 6:00 pm Sydney time, Monday to Friday (with 1-hour unpaid break).

These core hours allow the Social Media & Content Lead to collaborate directly with the Australian team, coordinate content requirements, and respond to day-to-day business needs.

  • Flexible Hours (5 hours per week)
  • The remaining weekly hours may be flexed to support:
  • Content planning and editing.
  • Scheduled evening publishing.
  • Community management checks outside core hours.
  • Weekend competitions, events, and activations.
  • Launches and major announcements.
  • Reactive content opportunities and timely social media updates.

A weekly coverage plan should be agreed with the Marketing Executive to ensure appropriate support during key events and content opportunities.
