ABOUT THE JOB:

The Environmental and Social Specialist will be part of the Environmental and Social (E&S) APAC team, providing his expertise to a wide variety of clients (lenders, developers, private investors, private companies) involved in infrastructure projects across the APAC region. The role involves managing multiple assignments in parallel and delivering high-quality inputs for a range of projects, including Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and social audits.

RESPONSIBILITY:

1. Social Risk Advisory & Compliance

  • Provide expertise on:
  • Land acquisition & resettlement
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Human rights
  • Stakeholder engagement & grievance mechanisms
  • Community health & safety
  • Alignment between local regulations and international standards
  • Identify key social risks, legacy issues and compliance gaps, and propose practical corrective actions.

2. Development of Social Deliverables

Lead or contribute to core social documentation, including:

  • Social Due Diligence (SDD) reports
  • Social Impact Assessments (SIA)
  • Lender monitoring reports
  • Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs)
  • Stakeholder Engagement Plans (SEP)
  • Land Acquisition & Resettlement Plans (LARPs)
  • Indigenous Peoples Plans (IPP)
  • Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRP)

3. Project Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary experts across Artelia.
  • Coordinate and review work from local consultants across APAC.
  • Interpret social and regulatory contexts for countryspecific projects.

4. Proposal & Business Development Support

  • Contribute socialrelated content to proposals for assignments throughout the APAC region.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 36+ years of experience in social consultancy or environmental & social advisory, preferably within a consulting firm.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering SDD, SIA, and/or lender monitoring for IFIfinanced or privatelyfinanced projects.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • IFC Performance Standards
  • ADB Safeguards
  • Equator Principles
  • Understanding of Philippine regulatory frameworks related to social and land issues, and ability to assess gaps with international standards.

Proven experience with:

  • Land acquisition & resettlement
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Human rights issues
  • Stakeholder engagement

  • Experience managing subconsultants and reviewing deliverables.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent English communication skillsboth written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of another ASEAN language is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of environmental/HSE topics is a plus but not mandatory.
