Signage Estimating is a specialist skill, and this role is built for someone who actually has it.

If you can look at a project brief and already know whether that illuminated lightbox needs folded aluminium returns or welded box sections, and roughly how long fabrication will take before you've even opened a spreadsheet, this role was written for you.

This is a full-time remote (Independent Contractor) estimating role with a signage manufacturing and fabrication business. We're looking for someone with experience pricing real signs, not just reading about them.

THE ROLE

You will own the quoting function end-to-end from receiving client enquiries and reviewing project drawings through to sending completed estimates, managing scope variations, and handing over confirmed jobs to the production team. The volume is real, and the range is broad: fast-turnaround mining stickers sit in the queue alongside complex multi-sign packages for shopping centre redevelopments, and you will manage both with the same precision. You are the estimator, the first point of client contact, and the person who keeps the pipeline moving.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Review incoming client briefs, scope documentation, and drawings, then prepare accurate cost estimates using the company's Excel-based quoting spreadsheets.
• Use an internally built ChatGPT estimating bot to generate first-pass estimates and sign schedules for high-volume small jobs, then audit, correct, and supplement those outputs with outsourced pricing as required.
• Communicate directly with clients throughout the quoting process, send completed quotes, manage scope changes, and issue revised estimates when project requirements shift.
• Convert accepted quotes into purchase orders and execute a clean, complete documentation handover to the artwork team to initiate production.
• Maintain accurate records of all quotes, revisions, and client correspondence through SharePoint, keeping document control tight across a continuous volume of active jobs.
• Manage throughput and prioritisation across a mixed project load, balancing fast-turnaround jobs with more complex fabrication projects under real Sales team pressure.

WHAT YOU BRING

✔A minimum of three years of estimating experience specifically in signage manufacturing, with hands-on ability to price illuminated lightboxes, channel letters, hog-routed letters, fabricated aluminium letters, acrylic panels, and other bespoke manufactured sign types (candidates with only signage takeoff experience from construction or apartment projects are not a fit for this role).

✔Genuine, working knowledge of how signs are physically made: materials including aluminium, steel, acrylic, and plastic, fabrication methods, and realistic labour times by sign type, not just line items on a schedule.

✔Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency, including the ability to operate formula-driven quoting spreadsheets, trace calculation logic, and resolve formula errors without external support.

✔Proficiency in SharePoint for document management and structured file organisation across an active quoting workload.

✔High written and spoken English proficiency — you will correspond with clients directly, and outgoing quotes and emails are not reviewed internally before they are sent.

✔Availability to work Western Australian business hours, with core hours confirmed through to 4pm WA time.
