Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced SharePoint Specialist to join our team and lead the design and development of our SharePoint environment, beginning with the build-out of a new company intranet home page. This is a full-time, remote role with an initial minimum engagement of six months, and the potential to grow into a longer-term position depending on project scope and organizational needs.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on SharePoint design and development experience, understands how to build clean, functional, and visually polished intranet sites, and can work independently to deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision. High English proficiency — both written and spoken — is required, as this role involves regular communication with internal stakeholders and project leads.
Primary Project — Intranet Home Page Build
The initial and primary focus of this role is designing and building a SharePoint intranet home page that serves as the central digital hub for our organization. This is not a simple task — it requires both design sensibility and technical SharePoint capability. The home page must be visually engaging, easy to navigate, functional across devices, and built to be maintained and expanded as the organization's needs grow.
Key Responsibilities

- Design and build a professional, visually polished SharePoint intranet home page from the ground up
- Translate organizational requirements and branding guidelines into an intuitive and well-structured SharePoint site
- Create modern, responsive page layouts using SharePoint modern web parts, sections, and design tools
- Ensure the home page is easy to navigate, mobile-friendly, and built to scale as new content and sections are added
- Apply consistent design standards, typography, colors, and imagery aligned with company branding
SharePoint Site Architecture & Structure
- Design and implement a logical SharePoint site architecture that supports current needs and future growth
- Create and configure site collections, subsites, document libraries, lists, and pages as required
- Establish naming conventions, folder structures, and permissions frameworks that keep the environment organized and secure
- Ensure all SharePoint environments are structured for ease of use by non-technical end users
SharePoint Customization & Configuration
- Configure and customize SharePoint web parts, pages, and navigation to deliver a polished user experience
- Build and customize lists, libraries, views, and forms to meet business process requirements
- Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 tools including Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, and Power Apps where applicable
- Develop and implement workflows and automation using Power Automate or SharePoint-native tools
Permissions & Governance
- Set up and manage SharePoint permissions, access controls, and sharing settings across all sites and libraries
- Ensure the environment follows organizational governance standards for data security and access management
- Develop and document governance guidelines for ongoing SharePoint use and content management
User Support & Training
- Provide guidance and light training to internal team members on how to use and maintain SharePoint content
- Create user-friendly documentation for site administrators and content owners
- Troubleshoot SharePoint issues and provide timely resolution for end users and stakeholders
Ongoing Development & Maintenance
- Maintain, update, and improve the SharePoint environment as organizational needs evolve
- Monitor site performance and user adoption, making improvements based on feedback
- Stay current on SharePoint and Microsoft 365 updates, new features, and best practices
Required Qualifications

- Strong proficiency in SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365) and/or SharePoint on-premises environments
- Experience with SharePoint modern web parts, page sections, and the SharePoint design toolkit
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 ecosystem tools including Teams, OneDrive, Power Automate, and Power Apps
- Strong attention to design detail — your SharePoint sites are visually clean, well-organized, and user-friendly
- High English proficiency, written and spoken — this role requires clear, professional communication with internal stakeholders
- Comfortable working independently and delivering results with minimal supervision in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications related to SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or Power Platform — such as MS-100, MS-600, or PL-900
- Experience with SharePoint Framework (SPFx) for custom web part development
- Background building intranet solutions or digital workplace portals for corporate environments
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript for light SharePoint customization

- You communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and make complex things feel simple
- You take ownership of the environment you build and maintain it with the same care you brought to day one
