Role Description The Shadow Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based at Westfields International School in Angeles. This role focuses on providing one-on-one support to a designated student, helping them access the curriculum, stay engaged in class activities, and develop academic, social, and behavioral skills. Daily responsibilities include assisting with classroom tasks, clarifying instructions, reinforcing learning, and implementing strategies recommended by teachers, counselors, or specialists. The Shadow Teacher observes the student's progress, documents relevant behaviors and achievements, and communicates regularly with classroom teachers and families to ensure consistent support. The role also involves promoting independence, encouraging positive peer interaction, and maintaining a safe, respectful learning environment.

Qualifications

• Strong classroom support and student engagement skills, including the ability to provide individualized academic assistance and encourage participation in lessons.
• Proficiency in behavior guidance and social-emotional support, such as implementing positive reinforcement, helping learners manage emotions, and fostering respectful peer relationships.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with teachers, school staff, and families, and to document student progress clearly and accurately.
• Adaptability and problem-solving skills to modify strategies as needed, respond calmly to challenging situations, and support diverse learning needs.
• Patience, empathy, and a caring demeanor, with a commitment to inclusive education and respect for cultural and individual differences.
• Relevant experience working with children in educational or support settings; experience with learners who have additional needs is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field is preferred.
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills and familiarity with international or multicultural school environments are beneficial.
