Job Description
The Settlements Officer is responsible for proper and timely execution, settlement and documentation of investment instructions and transactions. He/she coordinates with counterparties, registrars and custodians in relation to confirmation and reconciliation of investment trades and ensures that securities are delivered to/from securities settlement accounts appropriately.
Settlement and Reconciliation
- Ensure accurate and complete execution of funds settlement instructions on investment activities, including any transaction costs and taxes needed to be settled
- Confirm trade deals within acceptable timeframe
- Process and prepare tickets for securities transactions such as maturities, placements, interest or dividend payments and repricing
- Ensure securities are delivered to/from the appropriate settlements account
- Prepare trust loan promissory notes and other documents regarding loan releases and payments
- Prepare documentation for primary issuances (e.g. Application to Purchase, Sales Reports, etc) and secondary purchases of investments (e.g. PDTC forms)
- Compute for corresponding transaction costs (e,9. notarial fees) and taxes (e.g. GRT, DST)
- Verify and sign clearance of collateral
- Ensure that Trust securities records are reconciled with statements of counterparties, registrars and/or custodians
- Ensure that any exceptions noted are appropriately reported and resolved within the acceptable timeframe
- Review accuracy and completeness of daily reports on investments
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or equivalent
- At least 3-year experience in Trust Operations.
