About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior SEO & AIO Specialist to own organic search and AI visibility strategy and performance across a portfolio of client accounts. This role sits at the intersection of technical SEO execution, content strategy, analytics, and the rapidly evolving world of AI-driven search.

You will be responsible for ensuring clients remain discoverable across both traditional search engines and emerging AI experiences, including AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and other LLM-powered platforms. This is a hands-on position for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution—from diagnosing technical SEO issues and implementing WordPress optimizations to evaluating AI crawler behavior, developing off-page strategies, and presenting performance directly to clients.

The ideal candidate is deeply experienced in SEO, genuinely curious about how AI is reshaping search, and proactive about researching, testing, and implementing emerging optimization strategies before they become standard practice.

Responsibilities

• Own SEO and AIO strategy, execution, performance, and KPIs across assigned client accounts.
• Conduct comprehensive technical, on-page, content, and competitive SEO audits.
• Implement SEO optimizations directly within client WordPress websites, including metadata,
• headers, internal linking, site architecture, and other on-page elements.
• Build, implement, and troubleshoot schema markup and structured data across different page types.
• Monitor and optimize crawlability, indexation, page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, and overall site health.
• Conduct keyword research and mapping to guide website architecture, landing pages, blogs, and other content initiatives.
• Manage technical SEO fundamentals, including redirects, XML sitemaps, robots.txt,
• canonicalization, and related configurations.
• Develop and execute off-page SEO strategies focused on acquiring high-quality backlinks from authoritative and relevant websites.
• Optimize websites and content for AI Overviews, AI assistants, and LLM-based search experiences.
• Monitor and interpret AI crawler activity and emerging AI visibility signals separately from traditional organic search performance.
• Implement and maintain emerging AI-search optimization practices, including llms.txt and
• structured content approaches designed to improve machine readability.
• Monitor algorithm updates, AI search developments, and platform changes and translate their potential impact into actionable client strategies.
• Partner with content and creative teams to ensure new content is optimized for both traditional search and AI discovery from the beginning.
• Identify content gaps and organic growth opportunities through keyword, competitive, and search performance analysis.
• Build and maintain clear, client-ready reporting that connects SEO and AIO initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
• Proactively identify ranking declines, technical issues, algorithm impacts, and visibility changes and recommend solutions.
• Present SEO/AIO performance, findings, recommendations, and strategy directly to clients when needed.
• Continuously research and test emerging SEO and AI search tactics and share relevant findings with the broader team.
• Bring proactive recommendations and new optimization opportunities to client accounts rather than waiting for direction.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional SEO experience, with strong expertise across technical SEO, on-page optimization, content strategy, and off-page SEO.
• Demonstrated experience owning SEO strategy, KPIs, and measurable organic search outcomes across websites or client accounts.
• Strong hands-on experience implementing SEO changes directly within WordPress.
• Strong understanding of technical SEO, including crawlability, indexation, schema markup, structured data, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, redirects, sitemaps, and robots.txt.
• Experience developing and executing effective off-page SEO and backlink acquisition strategies.
• Strong knowledge of keyword research, keyword mapping, competitive analysis, and content opportunity identification.
• Practical understanding of AI search optimization (AIO) and how AI Overviews, LLMs, AI assistants, and emerging search experiences are changing organic visibility.
• Strong curiosity about AI search with demonstrated ability to independently research, test, and apply emerging optimization practices.
• Experience using Google Search Console, GA4, and rank-tracking platforms to analyze performance and guide strategy.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect SEO and AIO initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
• Experience building clear, client-ready SEO performance reports and translating complex findings into actionable recommendations.
• Strong accountability and a demonstrated track record of independently owning performance goals and outcomes.
• Proactive, self-directed approach to research, experimentation, problem-solving, and continuous learning.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

• Experience working within a digital marketing or SEO agency managing multiple client accounts.
• Experience with local SEO, particularly for destination, tourism, hospitality, or multi-location businesses.
• Experience measuring brand visibility or citations across AI-powered search and answer engines.
• Experience developing or testing optimization strategies specifically for AI Overviews, generative search, and LLM-powered discovery.
• Experience collaborating closely with content, creative, development, and paid media teams on integrated digital strategies.
