Financial Oversight: Lead the day-to-day review and prioritization for a team of two staff accountants, ensuring all daily controls and close timelines are met.
Month-End Excellence: Prepare and review complex journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. You will perform flux analyses and provide variance commentary to explain business drivers to leadership.
Reporting and Analysis: Synthesize large volumes of data into clear, well-supported summaries. You will be responsible for the accuracy and supportability of assigned accounts.
Audit and Compliance: Assist in the completion of annual financial statement audits and ensure all processes adhere to U.S. GAAP and internal controls.
Process Innovation: Identify and implement process improvements, focusing on standardization and automation to increase departmental efficiency.
Tax Support: Coordinate with internal and external resources to assist with U.S. federal, state, and local tax inquiries and notices.
Professional Requirements
Technical Expertise: A strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its application in month-end close and financial reporting.
Data Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills are required. You must be comfortable manipulating datasets exceeding 100,000 rows using complex formulas and pivot tables.
Critical Thinking: The ability to understand the business context behind transactions and exercise sound judgment when escalating issues.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to explain technical accounting issues and variance drivers to cross-functional partners.
Experience: Previous experience in a mid- to large-size operating business (e.g., $100M+ revenue). Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics GP, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems is preferred.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; tax experience (income, sales, and use) is considered a plus.
