Job Description

The Senior Travel Consultant (GDS) is responsible for managing end-to-end travel arrangements using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) while delivering exceptional customer service. This role requires advanced expertise in booking complex itineraries, handling client inquiries, and ensuring accurate and efficient travel coordination. The consultant serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and supports both customers and junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex travel bookings (air, hotel, car, and ancillary services) using GDS platforms (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo).
  • Create and manage customized itineraries based on client preferences, budgets, and requirements.
  • Provide expert recommendations on destinations, travel options, and industry trends.
  • Process new bookings, changes, reissues, cancellations, and refunds with high accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with airline policies, fare rules, and client travel policies.
  • Resolve escalations, complex cases, and service issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with airlines, hotels, and third-party vendors to secure bookings and resolve concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of transactions, bookings, and client interactions.
  • Meet or exceed productivity, quality, and sales/service targets.
  • Support training, coaching, and mentoring of junior travel consultants.
  • Stay updated with travel advisories, visa requirements, and industry developments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–4+ years of experience in travel account handling with strong GDS exposure.
  • Minimum 2–4+ years of experience in travel account handling with strong GDS exposure.
  • Advanced proficiency in GDS systems (Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo is required).
  • Experience in handling international and complex bookings.
  • Strong knowledge of airline fare rules, ticketing, and reissuance processes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
