What you will do:

  • Lead and deliver complex overhead transmission and distribution projects across utilities, generation, and industrial HV sectors.
  • Act as a technical authority and subject matter expert for transmission line engineering within project teams.
  • Provide independent technical review, verification, and approval of designs prepared by junior engineers and designers.
  • Engage directly with clients to provide technical advice, resolve complex engineering challenges, and support proposal development.
  • Drive innovation, efficiency, safety, and sustainability in engineering solutions and project delivery.
  • Support project managers in scope definition, risk management, estimates, and programme delivery.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Australian and international standards, client specifications, and WSP quality procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineers and designers.
  • Support capability development within the transmission line team by sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, skills development, and succession planning initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, professional integrity, and collaboration across teams.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Typically, 8–12+ years professional experience in transmission line or related engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex transmission line projects in a consulting or utility environment.

  • Design optimisation and risk mitigation
  • Expert proficiency in PLS-CADD and associated modules including PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE.
  • Strong understanding of Australian and international standards relevant to overhead transmission line design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full lifecycle of transmission line assets—from planning and design through construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with utilities industry requirements, regulatory frameworks, and client-driven delivery models.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical judgment, and sound engineering decision-making.
