About the Role
The Senior Tax Manager will oversee the PH, SG, and HK tax and compliance operations for Penbrothers, ensuring the company meets all regulatory and tax standards across various entities and locations. This position encompasses strategic tax leadership, overseeing compliance activities, and managing internal/external audits and risk, which includes presenting the company's tax exposure to management.
Work hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Manila/Philippine Time
Work set-up: Hybrid (Preferably can report to either Makati/Mandaluyong Offices at least 3x a week ; and more if there are seasonal audit reviews)
What you'll do
Tax Strategy.
- Develop and execute global tax and compliance strategies that align with the company's business objectives.
- Provide guidance on cross-border tax issues and international tax planning.
- Identify and assist with the implementation of tax planning and tax saving strategies.
- Suggest and present viable solutions to avoid costs related to new government or BIR-implemented laws
Regulatory Compliance:
- Tax return review: Detail review moderate to complex tax returns (all PH, SG, and HK returns) and compliance.
- Review quarterly and annual income tax projections, estimated tax exposures, and tax optimization.
- Handle all tax related audits (Internal and external), ensuring tax reconciliations are reviewed and accurate prior to submission to BIR examiners and relevant internal revenue examiners in the company's other locations (SG and HK).
- Handle tax refunds and coordinate with external consultants and stakeholders, as needed.
- Communicate any changes in the tax regulations in a timely manner and ensure that compliances are strictly observed.
- Oversee tax and compliance operations across PH, SG, and HK.
- Review and reconcile transactions done by the reporting line (Senior Tax Accountant).
Transfer Pricing:
- Manage and implement transfer pricing policies and ensure strict compliance.
- Provide support and documentation for any relevant audits.
Risk Management:
- Identify and manage tax compliance potential risks and exposure across entities.
- Develop, implement, review and continuously improve policies and procedures to mitigate tax related risks.
- Stay current on latest tax law changes, especially being proactive and updated on BIR laws.
- Research complicated technical issues and reach appropriate conclusions.
- Proactively provide monthly/quarterly updates on exposures and compliance issues to management.
Leadership, Development & Partnership:
- Assist in developing a high-performing tax and finance operations team.
- Assist other departments on tax, legal and compliance related matters.
- Assist in the review of contracts and collaborate with the legal team for tax related clauses.
External relations:
- Represent the company in tax-related negotiations and discussions.
- Participate in client meetings as they relate not only to tax planning.
- Work with external auditors on PH, SG, and HK for the compliance of various returns and regulatory compliances.
- Manage the coordination and communication with Singapore and Hong Kong entities on tax issues.
What You Bring
Non-Negotiable Qualifications
- Must have approximately 8-10+ years of tax experience, with at least 4 years in a manager/reviewer capacity.
- Must be highly experienced in dealing with BIR examiners.
- Must be able to report to either Makati/Mandaluyong Offices at least 3 times a week (Hybrid Setup).
- Must oversee tax and compliance operations across PH, SG, and HK.
- Must know the taxation processing for Individual Contractors (IC).
- Extensive knowledge of Philippine taxation, especially on the services side.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Expertise in Tax Strategy, Regulatory Compliance (PH), and Transfer Pricing.
- Preferred Background: Tax with high net worth experience , or advisory tax experience from firms like Deloitte.
- Nice-to-have Qualifications: Knowledgeable with Tax Strategy, Regulatory Compliance in SG and HK
