Job Title: Senior Tax Compliance (US)
Work Setup & Schedule:
- Hybrid (4AM to 1PM - Tuesdays to Saturdays)
What you'll be doing:
- Process tax payments on behalf of clients
- Compliance responsibilities include: Entity formation, dissolutions and maintenance, change of entity type, SOS filings, and any other compliance work as needed.
- Compliance tax filings. Filing of sales tax and cannabis excise with CDTFA reporting. Setting up CDTFA access for Clients. Local tax filings as needed. Thorough work paper documentation for each filing.
- Communication with tax agencies on client's behalf.
- Client education with regards to state and local tax compliance
- Any other administrative, compliance, or tax work as required by firm or managers.
What will make you a great fit:
- Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax and excise tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
- Experience reviewing and researching IRS and state tax notices to determine the cause of the issue.
- Ability to audit and analyze previously filed tax returns to identify discrepancies, errors, or compliance issues that resulted in tax notices.
- Some knowledge of accounting and tax in cannabis industry
- Solution-oriented; problem-solver.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Great organization and time management skills
- High level attention to detail. Excel intermediate
