Client's Profile

This established US-based Tax and Consulting Firm specializes in providing personalized financial solutions for individuals and businesses. With more than three decades of experience, the firm offers services in Tax Planning, Compliance, Accounting, and Bookkeeping, as well as strategic guidance for business expansion, transitions, and life events. Their approach combines technical expertise with a client-focused mindset, ensuring accurate financial management and forward-looking strategies. By tailoring solutions to each client's unique needs, the firm helps create stability, improve decision-making, and support long-term growth.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Tax Accountant, your role is essential in managing complex client engagements across both individual and entity tax practices. Success in this position means taking ownership of client work from start to finish, contributing to the review of work prepared by other staff, and partnering with the firm's principals on client relationships and tax planning. This role is ideal for someone ready to take on greater ownership, mentor junior team members, and grow into broader review and leadership responsibilities over time. Your responsibilities will include:

Complex Return Preparation:

  • Independently prepare complex individual returns, including multi-state, multi-K-1, high-net-worth, and returns with significant Schedule C and Schedule E activity.
  • Prepare entity returns, including 1120-S, 1065, 1120, and 1041 (trusts and estates).
  • Handle multi-entity client engagements end-to-end, including K-1 preparation and entity-to-individual coordination.

Review and Mentorship:

  • Review work prepared by junior staff and provide constructive feedback.
  • Mentor and develop junior preparers as the team grows.
  • Act as a developmental driver by offering BROADER leadership and feedback mechanisms during review processes.

Client & Advisory Support:

  • Respond to IRS and state notices on behalf of clients.
  • Calculate and deliver quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Participate in mid-year and year-end tax planning conversations with clients.
  • Provide excellent written and verbal communication directly with clients to maintain year-round, long-term relationships.

Practice Management:

  • Use TaxDome to manage workflow, communicate with clients, and document work.
  • Lean on technology to maintain audit-ready documentation, prioritizing quality and detailed standard ways of doing things.

What You Should Have

Must-haves:

  • Minimum of five years of experience with US-based accounting firms, focusing on tax accounting.
  • CPA or EA with a background in Accountancy.
  • At least one year of experience in a global remote setup with a company based in North America, Europe, Australia, or the UAE.
  • Strong working knowledge of individual federal tax law, multi-state requirements, and basic business returns.
  • Deep functional expertise in preparing complex 1040s (Schedules A, B, C, D, E, and K-1 reporting) and experience preparing at least one entity return type (1120-S, 1065, 1120, or 1041) at scale.
  • Excellent English verbal and written skills for direct, proactive client interaction.
  • Proven ability to work self-sufficiently without extensive training or day-to-day oversight; demonstrated history of handling sensitive data with high trust.
  • Proficiency with professional tax preparation software; driver mindset, willing to call agencies or research solutions independently before escalation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 or Google Workspace experience.
  • Comfortable working in a remote environment and using collaboration tools like Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Technology Specifications:

  • Minimum 50 Mbps Internet Speed
  • Windows 11 or MacOS 15 Sequoia
  • Minimum Intel i5 8th gen with 8GB RAM or Apple M1 chip with 8GB RAM
  • Webcam and Headset
  • Designated Office Space in your home

Nice-to-haves:

  • Multi-state tax experience (50 US States).
  • Experience with TaxDome or similar practice management software
  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals, closely-held businesses, or real estate investors
  • Comfort with year-round client relationships, not just busy-season preparation
  • Interest in growing into broader review and team leadership responsibilities

Who You Are

We are hoping you are someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and confidently with clients and team members, ensuring smooth collaboration.
  • Applies critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complex tax scenarios.
  • Organizes tasks effectively, managing multiple clients and deadlines with precision.
  • Maintains high accuracy and attention to detail in tax preparation and review.
  • Exercises sound professional judgment and handles sensitive financial information with discretion.
