Qualifications

  • Degree from a recognized university that meets the admission requirements of the CPA Program
  • 4-5 years of Australian accounting experience, including independently preparing tax reconciliations
  • Current enrollment in or recent completion of the CPA Program
  • Experience using APS Tax, XPA, Xero, MYOB, the ATO tax portal, and CCH online resources
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including business writing, spelling, and grammar
  • Strong analytical, research, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, follow instructions, and seek guidance when necessary
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality through thorough self-review
  • Strong planning and organizational skills for managing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal, active listening, and feedback skills
  • Customer-focused approach to understanding and addressing client needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Basic experience supervising and training staff, including delegating tasks and providing feedback
  • Willingness to work onsite in Makati

Responsibilities

Accounting Compliance and Business Advisory

  • Assist senior staff with various business advisory activities while applying and developing accounting knowledge and skills.
  • Complete all core tasks outlined in the Process Management Platform (PMP) process maps.
  • Prepare accounting compliance work by following standard procedures.
  • Gather information based on prior-period records and applicable checklists.
  • Verify client software and documentation against prior financial statements.
  • Classify and enter transactions into general ledger accounts using client software, including MYOB, Xero, and QuickBooks.
  • Prepare account reconciliations according to applicable checklists.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and workpapers.
  • Identify exceptions and raise queries with clients or team leaders.
  • Prepare and enter adjusting journal entries.
  • Prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Compile final financial statements and draft accompanying advisory letters.
  • Prepare income tax returns and associated schedules for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
  • Review financial statements and identify tax reconciliation items.
  • Prepare tax calculations.
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
  • Draft signing letters with suggested notes for clients.
  • Complete all relevant checklists.
  • Prepare tax assessment letters, Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and annual GST returns.
  • Maintain clear, well-documented file notes and keep senior staff informed of progress.
  • Identify potential issues and collaborate with senior staff to resolve them.
  • Research basic tax matters and respond appropriately to client queries.
  • Address all review points promptly.

Process Management and Administration (5% of Time)

  • Complete standard administrative tasks and assist with additional tasks as instructed.
  • Complete daily timesheets.
  • Support other staff as instructed.
  • Assist with budget and bill preparation.
  • Update the Process Management Platform (PMP).

Self-Management (5% of Time)

  • Manage time effectively to complete assignments and achieve performance goals.
  • Manage workflows, review hours against budgets, and prioritize tasks.
  • Clarify job requirements and deadlines.
  • Provide progress updates and request reviews to finalize assignments.
  • Plan assignments, determine the required information, anticipate potential problems, and monitor budgets and productivity targets.

Self-Development (10% of Time)

  • Strengthen and specialize working knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Attend firm-organized training and pursue independent learning as necessary.
  • Maintain proficiency in relevant software applications used by the Business Services Division.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings.
  • Develop knowledge of other service areas within the firm.

Staff Management (5% of Time)

  • Perform staff management tasks as directed, including assigning and clarifying tasks.
  • Conduct initial reviews of work completed by the Manila team and provide feedback.
  • Monitor time spent on assignments and communicate budget issues to the Assistant Manager or Manager.

Staff Development (5% of Time)

  • Complete training tasks as directed and assist with general queries.
  • Mentor and coach team members by providing on-the-job training for Graduates and Intermediates.
  • Assist with presenting local training sessions.
