The Senior Associate is a key support person for the client's preparation of bookkeeping, accounting and tax and other ad hoc tasks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently prepare and compile comprehensive Workpaper sets for complex engagements, including accessing and interpreting Tax Agent Portal data and reconstructing prior-year workpapers to a high technical standard for manager review.
- Prepare and lodge Individual Tax Returns (ITRs) and Partnership returns with strong technical accuracy, applying advanced tax knowledge and resolving moderately complex issues before submission.
- Complete and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) independently, ensuring accuracy across GST, PAYG, and related compliance requirements.
- Prepare foundational Financial Statements and Tax Returns for Trusts, Companies, and other entities, demonstrating solid technical understanding of accounting standards and tax legislation.
- Perform advanced tax compliance work as the senior accountant on files, including researching complex tax topics, drafting high-quality technical notes, and providing subject-matter insights to support the accurate treatment of complex issues.
- Communicate directly with clients to collect required information, clarify queries, and maintain a professional and responsive client relationship.
- Maintain strong compliance and documentation standards, ensuring all work aligns with ATO requirements and internal quality controls.
- Provide dependable support during peak periods, taking ownership of assigned workloads and assisting with ad hoc compliance or accounting tasks as needed.
Financial and internal requirements:
- Daily input of time into the client's practice management system
- Daily communication with client engagement team on priorities and actions
- Highly responsive to emails and communication from client relationship team
- Awareness to time, budget and KPI expectations
- Provision of queries to client engagement team
- Filing of relevant client information to the relevant internal database
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- a CPA or Non-CPA with at least 3 years of audit and tax experience in a reputable professional services firm
- Experience in Xero and Australian accounting is an advantage
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite
- High attention to details and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and take lead in understanding and meeting client's businesses.
- Demonstrate good listening and communicating skills
