Job Purpose
The
Senior Systems Engineer (Senior SE) is a customer-facing technical professional who provides high-level presales support to the sales team. In this role, you will act as a
Trusted Advisor to prospects, customers, and partners, discovering their business challenges and designing Nutanix Enterprise Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and Cloud-Native / AI solutions to drive their digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Sizing: Discover customer requirements, analyze business challenges, and architect comprehensive technical solutions utilizing the Nutanix portfolio. Perform accurate infrastructure sizing and configuration.
- Technical Presentation & Whiteboarding: Deliver compelling product presentations, technical deep-dives, and whiteboard sessions to articulate the business value of Nutanix to both technical staff and C-level executives.
- Product Demonstrations & Proof of Concepts (POCs): Take ownership of the technical sales cycle by staging and executing product demonstrations and hands-on POCs to secure the Technical Win.
- Strategic Account Planning: Partner with Account Managers to develop strategic territory and account plans, map customer personas, and lead technical responses to RFPs and RFIs.
- Complex Account Management: Lead technical sales engagements for large, highly complex enterprise accounts and multi-product strategic opportunities.
- Mentorship & Team Collaboration: Act as a mentor to junior Systems Engineers, share best practices, and foster collaboration across the regional engineering team.
- Feedback Loop: Act as a conduit between the field and corporate headquarters, gathering customer feedback to assist Product Management and Engineering in shaping the future product roadmap.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience:
- 5–7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role (Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or equivalent).
- 3+ years of proven experience specifically in a Presales Engineering environment.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of modern application architectures, Kubernetes, AI, and Cloud-Native technologies.
- Deep technical knowledge of Data Center infrastructure technologies: Storage, Virtualization (Hypervisors), Networking, and Automation Frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Nutanix solutions or competitor virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere) is highly desirable.
- Enterprise AI & GenAI Infrastructure: Understand in architecture design for AI/ML workloads, including familiarity with GPU optimization (e.g., NVIDIA AI Enterprise, vGPU allocation) and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) within private or hybrid cloud environments.
- AI Data Management: Understanding of MLOps frameworks, AI data pipelines, and high-performance storage requirements (Object/File storage) necessary for training, fine-tuning, and running inference for Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
- Soft Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills—ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business benefits.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative approach to selling.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.
- Preferred Certifications:
- Active Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification is highly preferred and will be given special consideration.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Nutanix NCSR/NCP, VMware VCP, AWS/Azure/GCP Solutions Architect, or NVIDIA certifications) are a strong plus.
