Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Steel & Reinforcement Estimator to join our Australian clients team. This is a 100% remote, full-time position working directly with the clients onshore team. The ideal candidate possesses comprehensive knowledge of structural engineering prints, material takeoff methodologies, and cost structures specifically tailored to metal fabrication and concrete reinforced structures.
As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for interpreting complex engineering blueprints, performing comprehensive material takeoffs, and preparing highly accurate commercial tenders. You will collaborate daily with project managers, technical specialists, and external suppliers to deliver data-driven budget forecasts and cost controls.+
Key Responsibilities
· Material Takeoffs: Perform precise material quantity takeoffs using advanced digital software for structural steel, metal fabrication, rebar, and trench mesh systems.
· Blueprints & Schedules: Thoroughly interpret structural drawings, architectural plans, and concrete reinforcement schedules.
· Model & CAD Analysis: Utilize drafting and design systems to review spatial dimensions and extract material metadata directly from project models.
· Tender & Bid Formulation: Compile complete cost estimates, evaluate supplier quotations, perform risk analysis, and build structured commercial proposals.
· RFI Management: Proactively identify discrepancy errors or missing technical documentation in plans and submit Requests for Information (RFIs).
· Cost Controls: Maintain and update tracking databases for structural material pricing, labor units, and manufacturing timelines.
· Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate closely with cross-functional project delivery teams via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven professional experience dedicated to estimating structural steel or reinforced concrete systems.
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
· Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of digital takeoff systems like Bluebeam Revu or Planswift.
· CAD & BIM Systems: Proficiency in navigating AutoCAD and Revit to verify structural dimensions, layers, and building information models.
· Industry Standards: Deep familiarity with Australian / international standards, steel structural codes, and construction methodologies.
· Communication: Superior written and spoken English skills suited for direct coordination with internal teams and vendors.
