WE'RE HIRING: Senior Software Engineer

The role

We're looking for a strong Senior Software Engineer who has built and maintained serious, business-critical systems, not brochure websites. You'll take ownership of complex features end to end, shape technical decisions, and raise the bar for the engineers around you.

What you'll do

You'll design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs for enterprise clients; translate business requirements into clean, well-architected solutions; review code and mentor junior and mid-level developers, helping them grow their technical skills and engineering practices; work closely with Project Delivery and Engineering leadership on estimates, technical risks, and delivery; and contribute to architecture, performance, and security decisions across projects.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 7+ years of professional software development, with solid time in a senior or lead capacity
• Strong PHP experience, ideally with a modern framework such as Laravel
• A track record on enterprise or complex custom applications (e.g. platforms, integrations, internal business systems, SaaS)
• Sound understanding of relational databases, RESTful API design, and version control (Git)
• Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude in day-to-day development, with the judgement to review, validate, and refine AI-generated code
• Experience mentoring or coaching junior developers
• Comfortable working independently in a remote team and communicating clearly in English with international stakeholders

Nice to have

• Knowledge of or hands-on experience with blockchain technologies (smart contracts, Web3 integrations, or related tooling)
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD, and containerisation
• Exposure to front-end frameworks such as React or Vue

Please note: this role is focused on enterprise application development. Candidates whose experience is primarily in WordPress or theme-based website builds are unlikely to be a fit.

Work Setup

• Independent Contractor arrangement | Full-time
• Working hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Malta time, Monday to Friday
