About the Team

Our AI Products team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build Chargebee Copilot and other product experiences that bring Chargebee's AI Agents platform to real users.

This is a true full-stack role. You'll write backend services in Python/FastAPI and build the UI in React/TypeScript, and you'll move between the two depending on what the work needs.

You'll build products that use Chargebee's AI Agents platform, turning its agents, tools, and APIs into things people use every day. That means designing and building the APIs that power these products along with the screens on top of them. If you care about good conversational experiences and want to build both the backend logic and the interfaces that let people configure and improve how an AI agent behaves, this role is for you.

About the role

You'll be working on:

Chargebee Copilot — the conversational AI experience our users interact with, both backend and frontend

Tools for configuring and testing AI agents, including the APIs and services behind them, so teams can build and tune agent behavior

Think about what it takes to design a clean API for agent configuration, wire it up to the platform underneath, and then build the interface that makes all of it usable for a business user with no code. That's the kind of work you'll be doing end to end

What you'll do (role and responsibilities)

1. Design, build, and scale APIs (Fast API) that power Chargebee Copilot and related AI product tools
2. Build the backend services that connect the UI to the AI Agents platform's APIs and MCP tools
3. Build fast, responsive UI in React/TypeScript for chat and agent configuration screens, including streaming responses, rich text editing, and live previews
4. Turn product requirements into clean code across both the backend and frontend
5. Own your modules end to end, from API design through UI implementation to production support
6. Work closely with designers, PMs, and the platform team to ship good AI experiences
7. Improve performance, reliability, and security for real-time, LLM-backed services
8. Help improve team practices through code reviews and shared learning.

What you'll bring (required skills and experience)

1. 4 to 6 years of hands-on software development experience
2. Strong backend skills in Python (Fast API or similar), including designing and building scalable async APIs
3. Strong React/TypeScript skills, especially building dynamic, real time UIs with streaming and state management
4. Genuine full stack range — you're equally comfortable owning a backend service and the UI in front of it
5. Good debugging skills and attention to detail across the stack
6. A product mindset — you care about why you're building something, not just how
7. Comfort working with a platform or API you don't own, including reading docs and working within someone else's contracts and constraints
8. Good to have: some working understanding of how agents and tools fit together in the LLM world — things like tool calling, agent-to-agent or agent-to-tool communication, and how context gets passed around in these systems
9. Bonus points for experience building products on top of LLM platforms or AI agent frameworks, or for building the backend and UI for builder style tools like form builders or workflow editors

How you will work with AI

1. Daily hands-on use of AI coding tools, and a good sense of when they help and when they don't
2. A clear line between AI-generated code and production-ready code — you review, test, and own everything you ship
3. The ability to write clear, specific prompts that get consistent, good output from LLMs
4. A habit of breaking work into small, reviewable chunks instead of accepting large AI-generated changes all at once
5. Genuine curiosity about how agents, tool calling, and conversational UX work under the hood
