Job Description
Join Boehringer Ingelheim as a Senior Software Engineer – Veeva Configuration Expert.
In this role, you will act as the technical subject matter expert and configuration owner for Veeva solutions within the Center of Excellence, ensuring that business requirements are translated into scalable, compliant, and maintainable system configurations. Drive solution implementation, platform optimization, and operational excellence by combining deep Veeva functional knowledge with hands-on configuration expertise, while ensuring alignment with architecture standards, business processes, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for Veeva platforms and modules, providing guidance on best practices and solution capabilities
- Design, configure, and maintain Veeva applications, including workflows, lifecycles, security models, objects, reports, and business rules
- Translate business requirements into scalable, compliant, and sustainable system configurations
- Collaborate with Business Consultants, Architects, and stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions aligned with business objectives
- Support system releases, upgrades, testing, validation, and deployment activities
- Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of system incidents and defects
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, security, and governance standards
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, and knowledge repositories
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement leveraging Veeva capabilities
- Contribute to the development of internal expertise by sharing knowledge and mentoring team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience configuring and administering Veeva Vault applications, such as RIM, eTMF, Clinical, Quality, or related Veeva platforms
- Proven experience designing and implementing business processes, workflows, lifecycles, security models, objects, reports, and business rules within Veeva solutions
- Demonstrated experience translating complex business requirements into scalable, compliant, and maintainable system configurations
- Experience leading or supporting implementation projects, system enhancements, upgrades, releases, validation, and deployment activities across the software development lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of GxP-regulated environments, Computer System Validation (CSV), data integrity requirements, and quality management processes
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Business Process Owners, Product Managers, Architects, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, and external vendors
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex application issues, performing root cause analysis, and driving issue resolution in production environments
- Experience defining configuration standards, maintaining technical documentation, and supporting governance processes for enterprise platforms
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement leveraging platform capabilities
- Experience mentoring junior team members, sharing best practices, and contributing to organizational capability development
