DevOps – ServiceNow Developer
Position Summary
The ServiceNow Developer designs, builds, and maintains solutions on the ServiceNow platform within a DevOps delivery model. This role encompasses full-stack development responsibilities — from scripting server-side business logic and building Service Portal experiences to designing integrations and automating workflows. The developer collaborates closely with architects, administrators, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable ServiceNow capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop ServiceNow solutions across core modules including ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, and/or App Engine.
- Write and maintain server-side scripts (Business Rules, Script Includes, Scheduled Jobs) and client-side scripts (Client Scripts, UI Policies, UI Actions) following ServiceNow best practices.
- Build and configure Flow Designer flows, IntegrationHub spokes, and legacy Workflow activities.
- Develop and maintain Service Portal widgets using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (AngularJS/Angular), and ServiceNow's Jelly/Glide APIs.
- Implement and manage integrations with third-party systems (Azure, Salesforce, LDAP, REST/SOAP APIs) using MID Server, Import Sets, and IntegrationHub.
- Manage code across Update Sets or utilize Git-based source control with the ServiceNow DevOps toolchain.
- Apply CI/CD practices using ServiceNow DevOps or ATF (Automated Test Framework) to ensure regression coverage and controlled deployments.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture discussions and technical design documents.
- Provide Tier 3 support for ServiceNow platform issues; diagnose and resolve performance or logic defects.
- Contribute full-stack skills as needed: REST API development, SQL/data modeling, or lightweight front-end development outside the platform.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of ServiceNow development experience, including scripting (GlideRecord, GlideAjax, Glide APIs).
- Proficiency in JavaScript; familiarity with HTML, CSS, and Angular/AngularJS. Experience with REST/SOAP API development and third-party integrations.
- Solid understanding of ITIL processes and ServiceNow ITSM module configuration.
- Experience with Git or equivalent version control systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified System Administrator (CSA).
- Experience with ServiceNow App Engine Studio or scoped application development.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow Performance Analytics or Reporting. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (Jira, Azure DevOps).
- ITIL v4 Foundation certification
