The Opportunity
We're hiring a Senior SEO & AEO Specialist to build and run SEO and answer-engine optimization end to end for a fast-growing AI-powered productivity platform — from research and content development through measurement and strategy iteration — with room to grow into surfacing new organic levers like backlinking and off-page authority, building a repeatable AEO process the broader marketing team can adopt, and expanding organic-growth ownership into adjacent channels as the function matures.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
- Keyword & AEO Research: Identify the terms, questions, and prompts the business should rank and get cited for across search engines and AI answer engines
- Content & Topical Mapping: Build and own the keyword/query-to-content map and editorial calendar — define which pages target which search terms and AI-answer prompts, prioritize by funnel stage and seasonality, sequence what gets created, and prevent cannibalization between competing pages
- Content Production: Produce and edit SEO/AEO-optimized blog posts and pages structured for both traditional search and LLM retrievability — clear entities, structured answers, and source formatting that earns AI citations
- On-Page & Structured Data: Apply on-page and structured-data best practices — meta tags, internal linking, and schema/JSON-LD — to strengthen indexation and answer-engine visibility
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track keyword rankings, organic traffic, and indexation health in Google Search Console, plus LLM mentions, citations, and visibility in a dedicated AEO monitoring tool
- Analysis & Iteration: Investigate movement in SEO/AEO metrics (sessions, clicks, CTR, impressions, pages indexed, AI citations) and translate findings into next actions
- Stack Ownership: Work directly in the existing stack — a headless CMS (Contentful), Google Search Console, and an AEO monitoring platform
What You Bring
- SEO Depth: 3+ years hands-on SEO experience (on-page, technical, and content) with shipped results tied to qualified traffic and conversions
- AEO Curiosity: Genuine interest and early hands-on exposure to AEO/GEO (answer engine / generative engine optimization) and how content earns citations in AI answers — adaptability and curiosity matter more than tenure here, as the discipline is new
- Strategic Ownership: Proven ability to own strategy, not just execute — critical thinking, initiative, and the judgment to set direction, with comfort running the full cycle independently: research, build, measure, iterate
- Tooling Proficiency: Hands-on with a headless CMS (Contentful or similar), Google Search Console, a major SEO suite (SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar), and a crawler (Screaming Frog or similar)
- Content Instincts: Strong at researching intent, building briefs, and writing or editing accurate, on-brand, discoverable content
- Communication: Fluent written and verbal English; collaborative across functions
Bonus Points if:
- You have hands-on experience with Profound or other AEO/LLM-visibility tools (e.g., AthenaHQ)
- You're familiar with AI Overviews dynamics, content-freshness systems, and entity/schema optimization
- You have backlink and off-page SEO experience
- You have a background in a fast-moving, high-growth tech or SaaS environment
