Position Summary
We are seeking a highly creative, meticulous, and experienced Senior R&D Chemist to lead the formulation and development of next-generation personal care and cosmetic products. In this role, you will drive the product development lifecycle from concept to commercialization. You will innovate new formulations, optimize existing products, and ensure all creations meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Formulation & Innovation
- Design, develop, and execute the formulation of new products across various categories (e.g., fine fragrances, skincare, haircare, and personal wash).
- Reformulate existing products to improve efficacy, reduce costs, enhance sensory profiles, or comply with updated regulatory standards.
- Stay ahead of global cosmetic trends, emerging raw materials, and innovative technologies to keep Scentral Laboratories at the forefront of the industry.
2. Project Management & Collaboration
- Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and benchmarks are met from bench-scale to full production.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing and Brand Management teams at Suyen Corporation to translate consumer insights and creative briefs into viable technical products.
- Partner with Procurement to source, evaluate, and approve new raw materials and active ingredients from global vendors.
3. Testing, Quality & Scaling
- Conduct and oversee stability testing, compatibility testing (product-to-packaging), and sensory evaluations.
- Lead the scale-up process by troubleshooting manufacturing trials and transferring bench formulas to large-scale production seamlessly.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of formulas, batch logs, specifications, and testing results.
4. Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure all formulations comply with FDA Philippines regulations, ASEAN Cosmetic Directives, and other relevant international standards.
- Prepare technical dossiers, ingredient listings, and documentation required for product registration.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific discipline. A registered Chemist or Chemical Technician license is a major advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic or personal care formulation, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
- Technical Skills: * Deep understanding of surfactant chemistry, emulsions, preservation systems, and fragrance integration.
- Strong familiarity with cosmetic raw materials, functional ingredients, and processing equipment.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong project management capabilities, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
