We are seeking an experienced Senior Public Health Engineer to lead the delivery of complex design work packages and support the Engineering Managers across multiple projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality, accuracy, and technical correctness of all project deliverables produced by junior, intermediate, and engineer-level team members. This role also involves mentoring and developing less experienced engineers to support their professional growth.

The Senior Public Health Engineer will manage midsize 2D and 3D projects, acting as the main point of contact for clients and taking ownership of project coordination, programme management, resources, deliverables, and QA/QC.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead and deliver assigned projects in line with the agreed master programme.
  • Manage midsize 2D and 3D public health engineering projects from concept through to completion.
  • Coordinate project resources, timelines, deliverables, and technical outputs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight

  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of all assigned project deliverables.
  • Review drawings, calculations, and documentation in line with project briefs, local regulations, employer requirements, and client specifications.
  • Carry out full QA/QC reviews of all project deliverables.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant industry standards and regulations for the project location.

Team Development & Mentoring

  • Support the onboarding of new engineers joining the team.
  • Mentor, train, and coach junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Take responsibility for the technical development of team members.
  • Conduct performance and development reviews (PDRs) as requested by the Engineering Manager.

Productivity & Resource Management

  • Monitor project burn hours against quoted and target hours.
  • Control project costs and productivity through effective task allocation and progress tracking.
  • Use day sheets and reporting tools to track team progress and utilization.

Reporting

  • Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager on:
  • Weekly project resource planning
  • Weekly team utilization
  • Project status and progress
  • Risks, delays, and technical issues

Responsibilities

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within public health engineering.
  • Strong experience managing multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures and technical review processes.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, resources, and programme deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Strong written and spoken English.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of Revit.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional memberships or chartership would be advantageous.
