The Senior Project Accounting Analyst is responsible for evaluating and monitoring the financial performance of projects by analyzing revenue, costs, project gross margin, profitability, and resource utilization. The role works closely with Project Managers, Finance, and Operations teams to identify key drivers behind significant movements in project revenue and costs, ensuring timely detection of potential financial discrepancies and enabling appropriate corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Analysis
- Conduct detailed analysis of project revenue and costs to assess financial performance.
- Monitor and analyze Project Gross Margin (PGM) and profitability across projects.
- Prepare and maintain project profitability dashboards, including:
Top 10 clients
Projects with PGM between 30%–50%
Projects with PGM below 30%
Projects with negative PGM
Labor cost analytics
Non-labor cost analytics
Technology cost analytics
- Identify significant variances, trends, and potential revenue or cost errors and provide actionable financial insights.
- Recommend appropriate reporting adjustments based on financial analysis and findings.
- Prepare project financial summaries, reports, and analysis for DU Heads and General Managers (GMs).
- Support management in making informed decisions through accurate and timely project financial reporting.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Work closely with Project Managers and Project Delivery teams to understand key revenue and cost drivers.
- Provide revenue, cost, and Project Gross Margin analysis to Project Delivery Units.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to investigate significant movements and variances in project financials.
- Provide guidance and support to Project Delivery teams in understanding financial reports, metrics, and project profitability.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify corrective actions and improve overall project financial performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, management accounting, FP&A, or a related field.
- Strong experience in revenue, cost, profitability, and variance analysis.
- Experience preparing financial dashboards and management reports.
- Strong knowledge of Project Gross Margin (PGM) and project financial performance metrics.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret financial data and translate findings into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
