Position: Senior Privacy Experts/Data Privacy Officer (SME's)
Number of hours: 20 hours/week
Schedule: Canada (EST) Time Zone (7AM - 12NN EST)
- Lead and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Provide strategic privacy guidance on data handling, risk assessments, and system implementations.
- Interpret and apply relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g., Privacy Act, PIPEDA, GDPR, or equivalents).
- Support client engagements and internal stakeholders across multiple, fast-paced projects.
- Collaborate in developing and updating privacy policies, procedures, notices, and data protection documentation.
- Contribute to or lead the development of privacy programs and supporting assets, where applicable.
- Analyze complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable policies and operational recommendations.
- 36 years of experience in privacy compliance, legal, or data protection roles, preferably with Canadian privacy law exposure.
- Experience working in or with a consulting environment is a PLUS.
- Hands-on experience with Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) is a MUST.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop strategic, practical solutions.
- Proven ability to multi-task, shift between priorities, and manage several concurrent projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience drafting reports or presenting findings.
Preferred/Bonus Skills
- Experience in writing privacy policies or developing privacy programs and frameworks.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity, data governance, or information risk management..
