About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, independent Senior Power BI Developer to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex data and business leadership. You won't just build charts—you will design, optimize, and secure enterprise-grade data models that power executive decisions.
Because this is a staff augmentation role, we need a self-starter who can jump right into our Agile sprint cycles, collaborate directly with stakeholders, and deliver fast, high-quality results.
What You Will Do
- Design & Build: Create high-impact executive dashboards, operational reports, and financial scorecards optimized for both desktop and mobile layouts.
- Model & Optimize: Build clean Star Schemas (Fact/Dimension tables), manage complex calculations, and optimize performance for massive datasets (100M+ rows).
- Code & Query: Write advanced, highly optimized SQL queries (using CTEs, window functions, and stored procedures) to prepare, validate, and clean incoming data.
- Secure Data: Implement robust Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) to ensure the right people see the right data.
- Collaborate & Translate: Sit down with business leaders to understand their goals, translate those needs into technical solutions, and present finished reports to leadership.
What You Bring (Requirements)
Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise-scale Power BI solutions.
- 3+ years working within the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem (preferred).
- Proven experience supporting executive-level dashboards and financial/operational reporting.
- Experience working in an Agile / Scrum development team.
Technical Deep-Dive
- Power BI Expert: Deep mastery of Power BI Desktop & Service, Dataflows, and Semantic Models. You should routinely use tools like Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
- Advanced DAX: Comfortable writing complex DAX formulas, calculation groups, dynamic measures, and custom time intelligence.
- SQL Expert: Master-level ability to write, debug, and optimize complex joins, CTEs, views, and stored procedures.
- Data Modeling: Solid understanding of Star Schema design, handling many-to-many relationships, and data warehousing concepts.
- Modern Microsoft Stack (Highly Preferred):
- Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Azure Data Lake (ADLS).
- Experience with or a strong interest in Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake).
- Tools & DevOps: Experience with Git version control, Azure DevOps, and Power Automate.

- Independent Operator: Able to take a task and run with it with minimal supervision.
- Strong Communicator: Excellent documentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical data to non-technical business leaders.
- Natural Problem-Solver: Exceptional root-cause analysis skills when debugging broken queries or slow reports.
