About the Role

The Legato team is a specialized portfolio accounting function that focuses on the ingestion, reconciliation, and validation of broker data to support accurate and timely portfolio accounting and NAV production.

Reporting to the Manager, Legato, this role is responsible for performing and reviewing portfolio accounting activities for assigned clients and portfolios, with a focus on accurate data processing, effective reconciliation, and adherence to established controls and procedures. The position requires strong working knowledge of portfolio accounting workflows and the ability to independently resolve routine discrepancies, escalate more complex matters appropriately, and ensure outputs are well supported for downstream NAV and reporting teams.

In addition to day‑to‑day portfolio accounting responsibilities, the individual is expected to contribute to operational stability by identifying recurring issues, supporting process refinements, and maintaining a strong control mindset to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review daily and month-end portfolio accounting deliverables for assigned portfolios, validating accuracy and completeness prior to downstream use.
  • Perform cash and position reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies within defined timelines, and escalating complex or unresolved items as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate ingestion and validation of trade, cash, and broker data within portfolio accounting systems.
  • Investigate discrepancies arising from corporate actions, journal entries, pricing differences, or data quality issues, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-through.
  • Perform pricing validation using approved market data sources and support resolution of tolerance breaches in line with established practices.
  • Apply documented controls and workflows consistently to support a stable, well-controlled operating environment.
  • Support review and quality-check activities across the team as required, contributing to consistent output and workload coverage.
  • Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies within assigned processes, raise observations to the Manager, and contribute practical improvement suggestions.

Key Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related analytically focused field (such as Business, Mathematics, Computer Science), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the fund administration industry, with prior experience supporting investment funds or portfolios
  • Broad exposure to multiple financial instrument types, ability to analyze drivers of portfolio- and security-level P&L in a portfolio accounting and reporting context.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, support projects, and serve as a subject-matter resource.
  • Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, including identifying inefficiencies, raising issues, and contributing ideas to improve processes and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting or finance designation, such as CPA or CFA, or active progress toward a recognized credential.
  • Experience with general ledger and investment accounting systems, with preferred familiarity in FIS VPM (Virtus Performance Management), SS&C Advent Geneva, or comparable enterprise accounting platforms.
  • Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, financial data consolidation, and building structured reconciliation and variance analysis schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to onboard and support new or transitioning funds with limited prior exposure, leveraging prior‑period files, documented procedures, and established controls to ensure continuity and accuracy.

What to Expect

We are committed to setting our colleagues up for success from day one. During your initial months, you may participate in more frequent in-office training designed to build your knowledge, confidence, and connections.

As you become established in your role, you will transition to our hybrid working model, currently consisting of 3 days per week in the office, offering both flexibility and continued collaboration.
