Job Description
The Plant Finance Manager will oversee the financial management and accounting activities of the manufacturing plant. The role will provide financial insights to support plant operations, cost management, budgeting, inventory control, and business decision-making while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial and accounting activities of the manufacturing plant.
- Manage plant costing, including product costing, standard costing, variance analysis, and cost monitoring.
- Prepare and monitor plant budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, production variances, material usage, labor, overhead, and other operational expenses.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to Plant Management to support operational and business decisions.
- Monitor inventory valuation, inventory movements, and overall inventory accuracy.
- Partner with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and other functions to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and analyze monthly plant financial performance against budget and prior periods.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Establish and maintain effective financial controls within plant operations.
- Monitor capital expenditures, fixed assets, and project-related costs.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Identify financial risks, cost inefficiencies, and operational issues and recommend appropriate actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors as required.
- Lead, coach, and develop the plant finance and accounting team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 8–10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, preferably within a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Strong experience in plant finance, manufacturing costing, budgeting, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with standard costing, product costing, and cost accounting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and financial controls.
- Experience working closely with plant/operations leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP, Oracle, or similar systems is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Willing to work in a plant/manufacturing environment.
